2 choices...opinions

Currently have two possible choices for purchase..,

1. lightly used 2012 21ssL Roo that I will offer up to $20,000 on...if the sellers hold out for more I'm out.

2. Brand new 2014 19L Roo that I can get for $23,000 at a dealer.

These are Canadian prices. Both of these units have the front cargo deck, but only one has the slideout. So, my thoughts are revolving around the necessity of the slide out on the 21ssL verses the brand "newness" of the Roo 19L and the accompanying 1 year warranty or 2 years if I buy the optional 2nd year warranty. We are a family of 3 with 2 big dogs and currently don't NEED a deck model but down the road we may purchase a couple ATVs. Pros and cons or opinions comparing the 2 choices would be great. thanks.

I'm sure others will provide wonderful feedback on your two current choices but don't under estimate the importance of floor plans. A slide out can provide extra room that becomes more valuable as time is spent in the camper especially with the family & pets.

Both choices have pros & cons but you will need to decide which would work best for you.

With a family of 3 and 2 big dogs you'll appreciate the extra space of a slide out.

Ya, not an issue...as stated in my sig my tow rig is a Cummins Turbo Diesel. 800ft/lbs of torque goes a long way...

Go with the wider camper. The slide makes a huge space difference on those rainy camping days.

Anyone with a 21ss or 21ssl will tell you that when the slide is opened up, that bad boy has a TON of space inside. It's like a dance hall inside one.

I personally would go with the space of the 21ssl.

Buy your second camper first. Go for the slide model. You won't regret it on the first rainy day.

Unless it leaks. Slides have a special set of maintenance requirements.
Just be sure the used camper is sealed well (big maintenance issue) especially the slides.

Same as everyone....get the slide. We looked at the 183 and then saw the room we had in the 233S and it is night and day. I could not imagine not having the slide at this point. We camped twice in the rain with a 10 year old and a 2 year old and 4 adults inside and we were ok. Makes all the difference in the world.

Only thing is, imo, the prices are a little high. We bought our 233S for around that new down here.

Why not buy a new 21SSL from a place like RVWholesalers? You might actually save money over the used price. I think they sell to people from Canada all the time and can walk you through it. Kelly Tussing is who I've dealt with and have been well taken care of.

I saved $12,000 on my trailer from RV Wholesalers vs buying on lot up here, well worth the look. That savings is delivered as well.

I don't know how you guys/girls always say you saved money buying from RVW?...I called them. The price I was quoted for a 21ssl was $22,500ish plus another $3000ish for delivery to
The border. So after conversion to Canadian dollars it was barely less than the $26,900 for the same unit on the lot here in Canada??? Where is this big savings I always hear about from some Canadians buying US direct?

Definitely go with the slide. I started out with a Coachmen Spirit of America with no slide as my first travel trailer. It looked like it had all the room in the world, until the first couple of rainy days camping in it. It gets tight in a hurry when you are all crammed into that tiny space and the kids are whining about having nothing to do. You won't regret the slide.
