2000 Roo. Changing tongue jack?

I bought a 2000 Roo and have not had a weekend to camp yet, but have been getting all the little parts fixed and together. I bought a 5,000 lb. tongue jack from Tractor Supply yesterday to replace the old. It is just kind of rusted and the new one was fairly inexpensive. I noticed the bolts on the old one are threaded through and do not have a nut under them. Is there something special I should do before replacing? There is not enough room to add a nut btw.

Thanks in advance!

support the front of the trailer - maybe hook it up to your tow vehicle so it is supported before replacing

Maybe spray the bols with some sort of penetrating oil so you can free the existing bolts. while you have them off - maybe replace them with stainless steel bolts and flat washers.

the rest should be a snap to replace - once un-bolted - pull the old one out and insert the new one and mount.

That is what I had planned. Worried the nuts may not be the same size or not thread back correctly. I sure wish it just had nuts on it! I bought 3/8" bolts btw.

you are correct on the "no" nuts - they are intergrated into the plate

as long as you use some sort of penetrating oil to free them up and you can break them loose without stripping them or breaking the heads off you will be fine - if you are really worried about using nuts - get longer bolts and nut them on the bottom side with nylon locking nuts but as long as you have washers under the bolt head it will be ok.

Not sure if 3/8 is the correct size or not but if all else fails replace the jack and re-use two of the three bolts and take the one to get it sized to match.

not sure about that old of a hybrid, but i didn't have to change anything installing my Ultra-Fab 3500 on my Roo 23SS.

maybe tongue jacks back then were attached different than now.

any pics?
