2004 f150 5.4l mpg while towing 233s

The trip computer was reset and the gas tank was filled prior to embarking on the 30 mile drive to the dealer.

MPG for this short trip, 8.6 at 60 mph with over drive turned off.

there's so much that can affect the mpg.
was there a headwind, was there hills, was there stop & go, were you in traffic, was this on the freeway?
and only 30 miles really isn't enough to get a good baseline.

most get 9-10 mpg when towing. unless you have a v-6 or a diesel. the v-6 will be worse and the diesel will be better.(not including the Ecoboost)

No judgements being made good or bad when sharing my experience. It appears my mpg is in line.

I chose the f150 as it is my daily driver too. I would not be able to park at work if I got a larger truck. Even with the 150, my antenna hits the ceiling/support beams in the parking garage.

I have a 2005 F150 with the same size engine. Last year's big trip from the south plains of TX to the mountains in southern CO I averaged 9.6 mpg on the way there and 10.2 on the way home. Conditions were good with no heavy winds. However, on another trip to a state park a few hours away , completely flat drive, but heavy head wind.....5.4mpg! It is shocking to actually be able to see the gas gauge move! Doesn't help that I have the 21SS that is a little taller than the other Roos.

It does not matter what your normal mileage runs, when you drop that camper on the TV you are going to get 8 - 10 mpg.

I have a diesel... if I am driving I get about 12 mpg, if my son is driving he gets about 9 mpg. The difference is how fast we take off and how fast we run. I am a gentle starter and run about 62 on the highway/Interstate, where he is a foot flat on the floor NASCAR wanna be and runs in the upper 70's on the Interstate.

I fuss and complaint, but you know how these thirty something kids are today... they don't listen to their parents, they think they know it all.
