My bottom breaker keeps tripping as soon as i turn it on and the label is smeared so i don’t know where to begin to troubleshoot. Any help would be appreciated!

I suggest posting a photo of the box so others may be able to help. I own a 23SS and not sure if they are the same.

A pic would help greatly. Typical circuit breakers in a 30 amp RV besides the MAIN will usually have labels to the air conditioner (a/c), converter (con or conv), microwave (micro), water heater (w/h, heater), gfci outlets.... and possibly general circuits (gen, general). You could also possibly see an appliance circuit (appl) or the refrigerator (ref)

You might can, thru the process of elimination on the ones you can read, figure out what is missing.

This is just an internet pic kinda showing the same:

"Bottom breaker" is no help. There are labels which isolate the problem.

In my Roo 23SS the bottom breaker is the electric water heater. Only reason I recall that sitting here is I painted the tip white so I can find it and easily turn it Off to prevent it accidentally running with no water in the tank.

Could be a bad breaker. Could be simple overloading -- my wife and daughter think two hair dryers, coffee pot, and microwave should run fine together. In this case they're on separate breakers and the main pops.

His entire problem is he can't turn the breaker on, as it keeps tripping as per his OP. So it's already off.

Well now, That makes his job even easier doesn't it!

Try this. Make a list of the breakers you can read for us and we can figure out what's missing.

don't over think this.

Make sure you push the handle all the way to off before trying to turn it on. If it is tripped you have to reset it by going all the way to off before it will go back to on.

In agreement with most of the above. If you haven't noticed anything not working, go check your hot water is see if you have any. If not, that could be narrowing it down.

When you make the magic mistake...

When you make the magic mistake of turning on the water heater with no water in it, the heating element can fail in one of two ways:
  • It can fail as an open circuit. It won't pop the breaker but you won't have hot water either.
  • It can fail as a short circuit. It WILL pop the breaker and you still won't have hot water.
The easiest way to check this out is to open the outside cover on the water heater and flip the somewhat hidden on/off switch that is there. If the breaker will then reset, that's your problem. A new element is about $11 on Amazon. You will also need to buy ($6) the special wrench needed to do the replacement.

Ask me how I know.

Times 2 it sounds like a dead short to the water heater. There is not many things besides the W/H and the AC, but this shows a 15 amp breaker, don't know if you have a fireplace.

Solved!

A bit more research pointed me to a shorted electric water heater element and toggle switch... replaced both and all good!

Thanks for coming back and letting us know what you found. It helps a lot when we hear (read) the solution to a problem.
