2012 Roo Hybrid Liner(s)

Mornin.

I have a 2012 Roo Hybrid. Looking to see if anyone makes a liner type of thing for the fold outs. I've taken this camping in the summer, now winter (as much as there is one of the those here in FL ;-) ) and definitely need a liner for the fold outs. Haven't had any issues with condensation or anything, but the heat/AC loss through the fold outs is ridiculous.

Also, anyone know if there is a parts dealer specifically for Rockwood? I want to change out the thermostat (analog one) to something more reliable. Had a small issue with mine this weekend.

Go to Lowes and get a roll of Reflectix . Cut pieces that are the same size as the window flaps and slide them between the canvas and screen. It takes about 1 minute per bunk to slide those in when needed. Also good for summer use on the sunny side of the location. Then buy popupgizmos for the tops.

Like Mr Havercamp said, do the Reflectix mod for the tent end window areas. Here's a pic of ours when we had our hybrid. We did the space blankets for the tops. Both made a big difference when running furnace or AC.

Here's a link to a short u-tube video on the Reflectix mod.

I was thinking like taking curtains and making a liner for the inside to act as an insulator. Lots of work to make them custom to fit. I was hoping that this type of thing was already made by someone.

I'll give the reflectix thing a try.

X 3 on the Reflectix and Pop Up Gizmos or PUGs. We have comfortably camped down to 9 overnight with them, to open sun 100+.

Tons of happy and loyal PUG owners in both the Hybrid and Popup communities.

Wouldn't camp without them.

Cool deal. I looked them up briefly and looks like they have different sizes. With the hybrid I'm thinking I should get the single. Sound right?

You need one for each bunk. Unless you only use one bunk. You did not mention what Roo you have. The owners name is Bob. Call or email as they have the best service you'll ever find. He probably already knows the size needed based on model/year. I would suggest the super high wind versions. Well worth the price.

Since you don't list your model number, I would expect to have one for each bunk end.
Don't know why you would only buy one. Don't think that there was a 2012 Roo with a single bunk end.

I have a '12 19' Rockwood Roo (can't remember the exact model at the moment). t does have two foldouts. When I looked up the PUGs, it looked like they have different sizes. I was just asking if anyone knew which size I needed. I'm just going to shoot them an email and go with it from there.

For the thermostat, you can just go to any hardware store and pick up an inexpensive digital one. Changing out the analog thermostat is one of the first things I did when I bought my 2016 Roo.

X2 on the PUGs

You'll need to give Bob Pitney, at PUGs, your model number. Not that it's 19'.
The Roo 19 is actually 21' 3" long, tongue to bumper.
The Roo 17 is actually 18' 9" long, tongue to bumper.

That said, the front PUG will be longer than the rear one, since the front tent end is longer due to the rake of the trailer's front.
And i believe that most Roo/Shamrock hybrids share the same size PUGs.

Bob has the measurements for nearly every brand and model of hybrid ever made.

Pretty sure the actual size of the bunks are the same from model to model. Just don't freak out like I did when you get your Gizmos and think that Bob made them the wrong size. Your front and rear bed canvas are about 4" different in size. Has to do with the angle on the front end of the camper, it makes the front canvas longer.

I only put one on the first time as I was just using the front bunk. Of course, I grabbed the rear one. Talk about egg on your face.

I live in Georgia and I never needed the reflexit. The Gizmo's did the trick for us. Huge difference. If you do go with Gizmo's and small step stool is helpful and attach the top before erecting the canvas. Makes them a breeze to put on.

Bob will(for a small price) sew velcro on one side of the PUG, so you can put a strip at the top of the bunk end frame and simply attach them that way.

We find Reflectix in the windows useful for room-darkening as much as for insulation. College students on vacation aren't interested in rising early, nor are their parents.

I had PUGs from my popup that I used on my Roo. They were a little bigger than needed but it was nice to cover the end window some. That allowed me to keep it open a crack for ventilation so I say a little longer is good.

PopupGizmos is all you need. You can make them yourself, or order them from this site.
