Anybody know what the function of this metal gizmo under the awning for the slideout?
It doesn't touch the slide when slid in or out but there are a couple of bulky screws and lots of caulking holding it in place.

It is to prevent the topper from unrolling if the mechanism breaks when the slide is closed, the arm on the topper will roll back and hit the bracket. You don't want the topper to unroll when you driving down the road....
