2013 233S paint cracking

These pics are take on both sides of the front bunk by the bottom rivets. Notice the paint cracking. Is this something that should be covered under the one year warranty?

This happened to mine they had to repace the front door assembly, the paint cracking like that is telling you that the hinges are bending slight and cracking the paint... They should replace the whole door under warranty. This is a common issue my dealer told me and they updated it in 2014. New door looks way different all together

My 2013 233s is doing the same on the front bunk and slightly on the rear bunk. Defintaly some bending going on. I was afraid it was going to be a major repair, I'll take mine in at the end of the season and update with results..

Our dealer told us there was a horribler batch of doors in 2013 models that they have had to change. Apparently (as indicated) they made changes to later model 2013 and 2014s that should prevent this....I hope

2013 233S paint cracking

Took the dealer a few months to get my doors in, dropped the roo off for the install and had it back a week later. To my surprise not just the door and hinge was replaced, but all 3 bunk assemblies (where they screw into the side of the camper) were replaced including new canvas. Doors seem to seal better. On the downside I have to prep the canvas / threads again. And the new bunks don't have the plastic corners (head protectors) on them like the old did. Vicars Trailer did a great job can't even tell they were changed.

I've got that on the front bunk one side only. This trip it chipped the paint off.

Is this an admitted defect by FR?

Yes. My dealer told me they had changed a couple sets on early built 2013 units. My side & rear bunks didn't crack the paint, but you could see the metal waving up and down between the rivets. They told me if it's an early unit with the old style they change and 3 doors. Not quite sure how to tell new from old style.

I would like to know if they will fix it for free too down the road? I have a early 2013 and they replaced to front bunk under warranty due to paint cracking and corner bending...

Replying so that I too can follow the thread. Be took delivery of our 2013 233S in April of 2012. We've had her now for over 2 years so I'm very interested if they change anyone's doors....

I've got a 2013 233S that was delivered in Aug 2012. It's at the dealer now to get all three bunks and canvas replaced. All three doors have issues with delamination, cracks and small bubbles in the paint, i.e. water damage. Thankfully, because of this forum, I bought the 2nd year warranty so FR is picking up the tab without a fight.

I guess my next question is if people with the newer designed bunk doors are having the same issues? If there are still issues, are they happening at the same rate? Not sure if I want to keep the camper or sell after the repairs are made. I'd sure hate to continue fighting water problems and go through this again.

I had all 3 of mine replaced under warranty. Only had 2 showing bending and paint popping off but I insisted they replace the third one too. They did with no argument.

jdubs, what model and year is your camper? How long ago was the work performed and did it solve the problem?

I hope so also, I will fight tooth and nail with them if they don't.. The power of the internet usually prevails in these situations. Could always banner up the trailer saying how soon forest river products can fail. That's extreme but can be done

Our last weekend it appears that the corners at the lower hinge of the side bunk (233S) cracked. We're a few months outside warranty. The dealer is about an hour away. Not sure if I should haul back to them or contact FR directly.
