2015 Toyota Highlander versus 2017 Roo 21dk

Is the Highlander the same frame and 3.5L V6 engine as a Sienna minivan? We have a 2005 Sienna LE and I'd never consider towing any hybrid with it. It was fine for our 10' Coleman Santa Fe popup but only after I added airbags to the rear suspension.

We have the Highlanser and towed 3,800# loaded and it was all it could do. We had no additional power and felt under powered most of the time. In hindsight a 200# or less pop up is all it can do.

That's why we bought the MBS Forester. No more towing

According to Toyota, the highlander is on the same frame as Avalon but I'm not sure about sienna.

Frame or platforms matter to a curtain extent but you have to go by the manufacturer . You do not know what the weakest link is unless you discover it the hard way

I looked at that prior to ordering my Roo 17, what I didn't like was the loss of the wardrobe/pantry by putting the couch there. I also liked the slightly larger bathroom in the Roo 17. But whatever you go with I'm sure you will love it!! Happy Camping, Rob

Now I will have to compare the specs between the 2, as I like certain things on the Roo, such as the outside speaker and sapphire faux wood floors.

I have that exact setup. 2012 4runner - with airbags installed + 2016 21ss. The 4Runner pulls ok on flat roads and does struggle on inclines. Pretty sure I am at the max and worry constantly about the wear and tear on the truck. I am actively looking to upgrade to a full sized suv for more wiggle room with the weight.
That said, it looks great when setup.
