Ok, I have to ask: why the surge protector? Are electrical surges at campgrounds common?

A quality surge protector like the Progressive Industries EMS series will protect you from both power spikes during storms, and low power situations in busy campgrounds when everyone is cranking up their A/C. Those are both good features to protect all of the electrical system on the RV.
But it will also protect you from mis-wired power poles and it shows you how much power you are currently drawing so you don't go over 30amps and trip a breaker.
It was one of the first mods I did and it gives me great peace of mind.

X2 on the peace of mind. We've been camping in trailers for over 20 years. Started in pups and upgraded to htts. Never had one until I put the Progressive hw in our trailer this spring. Seen a lot of shady hookups. Poles lying on the ground to plug in. Even a 5 star MA cg where 5 sites connected to the same pole (and they only had one 30 amp outlet and 2 duplex 15 amp outlet).

We took them out. Took out.the one under the bathroom sink too. Well put some type of barrier up eventually, but those are a waste. Never stayed up anyway.

Congrats and yes the slide doesn't take up much room under the awning and considering what space you get inside. One of the best purchases so far was for our Anderson levelers. No lego blocks for us..just roll onto them, chock and we're set!

My only concern so far is the lack of a roof vent for the fridge because of the slide. We never heard a peep from the Dometic on our old 183 from 2008 to date. The upper side vent design is already making noise. Will have to update per threads on this forum. Love the heated bunks. On a cool night with dew, makes a big difference. I think you were wise to pass on the thermopane windows. Take a look at your ceiling (where the heat goes). 2 plastic skylights, 2 plastic vents and
I don't know what leaks out the A/C.

I have had only one night in the 25 degree temps and so far we love it but that being said in the fall and early spring I want to use the Roo but not the bunk ends

Google "noisy fridge." Fix is to replace the stock fans with ball bearing computer fans.

I have a2015 23ikss too . I would be weary of the water filter in the rear door area it spun off n was flooding the rear of camper twice bad design so I took it out bypassed it n made a box to use it outside before the water Inlet so it don't happen again inside my new camper water will ruin any chip board flooring it comes I. Mine spun off twice too. Only installed the filter on our second trip (first trip was fall last year so I didn't put the filter in just for storage). We had finished setting up at the cg and went for a walk with the dog and kids. Came back to water pouring out of the camper door and running down the steps like a waterfall. Found the canister had spun off and lying on the floor. Next trip is not until the 4th but next mod is to get rid of that filter. (Nice idea to add a filter, too bad they are expensive.) Was planning only to use it this first year only and go back to the camco external.

I assume you can use the inline filters when filling up the fresh water holding tank, too? Flow is good enough that you won't be sitting there filling for an hour?

No water goes into my RV without going through my filter and I can fill the fresh tank with filter about as fast as you can from the garden hose at my house but filter prevents crap from getting into my tanks.

We use the same Camco inline filter. Works great and there is enough constant water pressure for showering in the camper.

Do you ever boondocks or dry camp and carry water in separate tanks? If so, how do you filter?

I carry filtered 5 Gallon Jugs plus my 40 Gallon Freshwater tank. Use 40 gal for RV only and 5Gallon jugs for drinking but everything is filtered. I also have a 100Gallon Portable Tank that I can lay flat in the pickup bed of my truck for more water if needed and a small little pump you operate off a drill to pull water from the 100 gallon and move it to the RV. I bought these for my boat years ago and they work perfectly but rarely take the 100Gallon tank with us. Amazon sells the pump and tanks can be found anywhere.
