2017 19' ROO tongue jack

If I buy a electric tongue jack my question is can I install it and how do I wire it, a friend said he thought that it used a 7 way plug and you just plugged it into your truck plug?????? another guy said he hooks his up to the RV battery with a couple of clamps like on the jumper cables, and last of all where is the best place to buy one and about what do they cost?????

The wiring is pretty simple - you just have two 12 volt wires. You can connect the negative to the frame or tie in to the wires on the tongue and same thing for the positive. Just tie it in to the existing wiring or directly to the battery. If you do tie in to existing wiring, make sure it is upstream of the battery disconnect switch if you want to have power to the jack when the disconnect switch is open (which is how the factory wires them). Fairly simple project that is really worth it. Just seal up your connections so they are weather tight

Takes about 30" to install.

It hooks up to the trailer's battery, NOT the truck. Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about.

Three bolts and positive wire to battery and negative wire to the frame.

Bought my Ultra Fab 3500 refurbished jack on Ebay for $99.

Simple process. Hook trailer onto tow vehicle & lower the jack so weight is off of the jack. Unbolt the old tongue jack (3 bolts). Put new jack in place. Tighten 3 bolts. Hook wire or wires to battery. Simple process. Most jacks will have instructions to help you, but it isn't hard to do. You can buy electric jacks online or from local dealer or RV parts dealer.

Forest River uses Lipert tongue jack as below:

https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-28531...ic+tongue+jack

other good jack would be Husky as below...

Sorry to say, his friend was right. I installed one and it came with a 7-pin plug and instructions for connecting to the TV. I didn't install it that way, I did connect directly to the battery.

It was news to me also, but I did purchase one tongue jack that came with a 7 pin plug. Unplug camper, plug jack in to use. Way too complicated for me! I cur the plug off, ground eore to frame, hot wire to battery positive. 30 amp breaker on positive wire. Jack works while trailer still pluged in. So......anything is possiblw when it comes to re's.

I wouldn't want to have to use the TV all the time, just to raise and lower the trailer.

That would be for installations that don't have batteries on the trailer.

If installing on a camper (or any other trailer) with batteries, you would hard-wire to the trailer's electrical system.

I'm looking at installing a power jack on my Roo 183 this year. I haven't looked at it yet, but I imagine that you must take into account how high the jack sits so it doesn't interfere with the front bed when lowered.

I think I read somewhere that the Brute jacks sit a bit too high.

Have to search through the forums, because I'm sure the answer is already here someplace.
