2017 Shamrock 23IKSS arrives next month

Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster here. After much research we have put a deposit on a 2017 Shamrock IKSS. We looked closely at the 233s, and 23WS before settling on the IKSS. I probably read nearly every Shamrock/Roo forum post on the internet. We are moving up from a 2006 Fleetwood Niagara pop-up. Earlier this month, I contacted local dealers and RV Direct (about 4hrs to Albany location) about ordering 2017 model and requested quotes. Orders placed now will be 2017 models with delivery in May.

Ryan Davis at Keystone RV center in Greencastle, PA indicated that they have 4ea. 23IKSS ordered and due to come in March. He said one of the four trailers has every single option we want down to the flooring and fabrics. He said that he wouldn't know if its a 2016 or 2017 until it arrives. I explained that I want a 2017 and given the March delivery we both assumed it was a 2016. I asked him if he could verify and when he checked with the factory he confirmed that its a 2017! I put a deposit on it.

We are getting every option except: Heated tanks, Dual-pane windows, 15K A/C upgrade, and stainless appliances. The two lowest quotes were from:

RV Direct $21,910 (2017 order now, arrives in May)
Keystone $21,987 (2017 arrives in March)

Congrats on your new hybrid. I don't think a 2016 and 2017 are much different....New is New !!!
As for the options you skipped, not too many people take them.

WELCOME to the world of Hybrids !

Did you get the dual recliners and free standing dinette? We have a 2015 shamrock 23ikss and were considering trading for a 2016 with those options until sanity reeled us back in. Those recliners sure look nice though. Congratulations on your purchase.

Apparently there are no changes to the 2017 model from the "2016.5" 23IKSS that has the shower doors and entertainment center next to the front bunk. At least for now even the fabric choices are the same. I did not get the dual recliners but opted for the Hide-a-bed instead because we need the extra sleeping. We went with the booth dinette for the same reason (I guess I missed that one in my earlier list of options that we didn't get).

Congrats! We ordered the Roo version this past week and should be receiving it in April. That is interesting it is likely to be a 2017. Sounds like we have the same options as yours as well. We loved the openness of the floor plan and all of the cabinet space.

The open areas and storage are what sold us also. Many times it's just the wife and me but many times we have granddaughters stow away. It's great to be able to sleep extras without converting the table or sofa. They are great little campers.

Exactly. We have twin girls who are 5 so they will take one of the beds. We got the Hide A Bed option in case they want to bring a friend as they get older. We will be spending most of our time outside, but if the weather is bad that extra room and kitchen setup is going to come in handy! Can't wait to get ours for its maiden voyage. I hope the PDI goes well and does not delay our plans.

The hide a bed is just a sofa that converts to a bed. We have the sofa with the air mattress option. We haven't used it yet. I understand it is no longer an option.

Yes. It is not an air mattress anymore, but still an option. I am not sure of the material they use for it though.

Steve

Welcome to the the Forum and the world of Hybrid. We are the proud owners of a 2015 IKSS and absolutely love it.
One important thing I wanted to pass along for your peace of mind. We got ours from Keystone RV in PA as well. These guys really know their stuff and PDI was fantastic. We have been lucky in that we haven't had any issues we needed to bring it back, but every call gets returned and answered and their customer service is bar none.

Good luck and Happy Camping.

Congratulations! I am waiting for mine as well. It was ordered a few weeks ago, I hope mine is a 2017 too. I was going back and forth with Keystone and they wouldn't come off 23,900 for one equipped exactly the same as yours - but 15K A/C. I guess I need to step up my negotiating skills. I ended up buying local for 23,700. I am happy with that as it saves me taking time off of work and the expense of an 8 hour ride each way. If I do have issues they are local, hopefully we won't have any. The local dealers are funny. I went to buy one last spring and wanted to buy one off the lot and they would not come off the sticker price - just a tiny bit. I told them I was willing to drive to PA or Albany and they said enjoy the trip. At the show last month they said no problem matching Keystone and knocked off another 200. Go figure. For 3-6k I would have been making the trip. Probably would have taken the family and stopped at Hershey - I didn't tell them that though. We have a 2004 Fleetwood highwall also and will be posting that on craigslist in April. I know the wife is looking forward to the hybrid as it should make setting up a lot easier. Happy Camping!

Thanks for the replies.
Carlosrod: Thanks for the review of Keystone RV center

Another point of comparison between RV Direct and Keystone is that RV Direct wanted $1100 to install a Reece dual cam on my Suburban and Keystone quoted me $850 to install a 4-point Equal-i-zer (which brand I preferred anyway). Those quotes included hitch and installation. RV Direct may have negotiated that price some but I never got that far with them. Both dealers were great to deal with over the phone and email. I'm quite sure I would have been happy with either; but Keystone got my deposit because they are proposing to deliver what I wanted, sooner, at a slightly better overall price. It also helps that they are 2hrs and 45 mins. drive vs 4hrs.

That is a great deal, the camper itself was 21,100. I spoke with Brendon at Keystone, I jut went back and looked at his quote ant it was 23,999. That quote was in November and he said there was no wiggle room at that cost. If they came in closer to your price and threw in a 1,000 hitch I would have gone there as well.

Hemlock04: I should have been more clear in my post. The cost of the hitch was NOT included in the original quotes for the trailer. The quotes included all documentation and prep fees, but did not include the hitch, taxes or DMV fees.

Shamrockthecasbah,

When get your 23ikss can you confirm if your 2017 unit has recessed LED lights vs surfaced mounted lights?

FR changed the website stating Recessed LED lighting, but hard to tell if they are throughout or in place of the reading lights above the sofa ends.

Thanks

Will do Erik. I spoke to the dealer earlier today he said they should be getting delivery of my trailer the last week of March. No firm delivery date until we get a VIN and no VIN yet because the trailer is being now (or soon).

I was googling how wide the 23IKSS is with the slides out but all I can seem to find is that it is 8ft closed. The spec drawing doesn't indicate the size of the slides either. Do any of you have an estimate as to the width of the unit when it is open? I am guessing 12-14ft.

2 foot kitchen slide plus 3 foot dinette slide plus 8 foot wide closed = 13 feet wide when extended.
