2018 21ss shamrock closet

Hi everyone. New to the shamrock family and so excited !!! We are upgrading from a teardrop. We bought a 2018 21ss a few days ago and wont take delivery until next week or so. My question today (Im sure there will be others, lol) is about the hanging closet. We know we are going to modify it somehow, but whats the deal on the small space underneath with the fake door? Is there usable space under there? Thanks everyone!!!

If it is the same as our 2016 Roo that area below the closest is where the water filter and pump are located.
Congratulations on the new TT!

If your's is like my 2014 21SS, the outside shower, gas line to water heater, and the water heater are behind it. My panel has two screws run into the floor to hold it in place. It can be moved to gain a couple more inches.

There are many panels that can be moved or opened to make more storage space. Existing lower cabinets usually have side or rear panels that can be moved or removed to make more storage space line the typical "modesty" panels under the sinks hiding the plumbing. In my Roo 23SS I put hinges on two or three blank panels to access what was behind them, the main one being the panel the size of a cabinet door that hid the water pump, filter, and water heater bypass valves. There was a "not a storage cabinet" sticker on the panel -- wrong!

Ours had hinge fittings on both left and right sides of the "false" door, so we just removed one side and left it like a door to open and close.

I know fella10 removed the hinge pin and replaced it with something like a nail with a bent over top. He just pulls out the nail to open the door.

Fake door?

Our 2015 21SS has a real door below our "hanging closet", it does have a panel in there to keep the hose for the outside shower our of the way. My shoes and our dust pan and brush live in that little space and we use the closet as our pantry. We removed the hanging rod and added shelves to the closet. It works for us!

shelves

We found the hanging rod to be very inefficient so I made 4 shelves out of luan and glued a piece of 3/4 square pine on the three inside sides and now we have removable shelves that accommodate our clothes much better. Depending on the season I can instantly convert it to two shelves for bulkier sweatshirts etc in the fall. I do not use the "fake" cupboard for anything. There really isn't enough space to worry about.

Welcome to the Forest River family! On my 2017 21ss there are two hinges on both sides of the door and I just undid one and installed a magnetic door lock, it works okay. Inside the access panel behind the water filter is a valve that is used to winterize the water lines. By turning the valve and placing a container to antifreeze outside with a hose connected to the hose bib and in the container of antifreeze it will pump the antifreeze through the system.
