2018 Roo 19 Bunk End Hinge Loose
Our 2018 Roo 19 bunk end hinges are riveted to the door, and the rivets aren't holding the hinge tight to the door any more. The side my wife and I (400lbs total( sleep on is starting to pull away from the hinge, but he side our two kids 100lbs total) is looking fine. I noted they only used 6 rivets to secure that entire hinge to the door. Too few imho.
The dealer (repaired) the rivets, but it didn't last very long.

There is no way to get at the back side of the hinge, hence the rivets.
The first pic shows what the kids bunk end hinge attachment looks like, and then what our side looks like. I can also see the rivets are starting to deform the metal they are attached to, as I assume all of them are coming loose.

Can't you just go the whole way through the door? Use stainless steel bolts?

If you disconnected all the canvas from the camper, you could get at the back side of the hinge. Otherwise, no....it is not possible to use anything other than rivets.

Shouldn't the cables help stop it from going to far down? Do they need to be adjusted shorter?

I had a 2004 19 Roo. My wife and I probably weighed 450. I always slept on the inside. I weighed 300. I ditto the previous poster. The force should be on the cable connections. I had bunk leaks back then but as I remember it. The hinge was not attached w rivets to the frame. I'd keep after Forest River. This should be under the warranty coverage to make it right.

The load is carried by both the cables AND the hinge.

Yup. Even though two pairs of cable isn't a horrible idea to take load off the hinge.
I ordered some high strength stainless 1/4" dia rivets from fastenal and plan on installing them myself. There are currently 9 rivets, I plan to at least double that amount. In combination w/ the larger diameter, that should be sufficient to hold up for a few years.

I'd also check the cable length, make sure they are taking their share of the load.

I twanged the cables and both are of similar pitch. So I would say they are good. Rivets are in, so I will plan on working on the fix this weekend.

I was planning on fixing the hinge myself with new quarter inch rivets but I see now that the hinge is loose on both sides. I'm not about to take the tenting off to try and get the rivets that secure the hinge to the camper. Off to the dealer it goes I guess
