233s,23ss or 23ikss opinions

We are looking to get a new ROO next spring and I'm just looking for advice. We have twin daughters that are 2 and a half, and currently camp in a pop up.
Were looking to get either the 233s, 23ss or 23ikss. We walked thru the 23ikss and the wife really liked it but have not looked at the other two yet.
I'm just looking for some advice on which one would suit are family the best.

Hi Fred,
I think that is your answer - get a floorplan that your DW likes!

The biggest difference between the three is the third bunk with the 233S. That is important for us with three kids so we don't have to use the couch or table as a bed, but two bunks are great if your twin daughters like to share one. They are young enough now that I bet they like to share and will for many years to come. Also ask yourself if you intend to have guests or their friends on a regular basis. The table and couch suffice for occasional use, but like I said, I wouldn't want to use it that way regularly.

With the 23ikss, see if someone here can check, but make sure that you can access the bathroom with all slides in while traveling. It doesn't appear so due to the island sink, and we find accessing the bathroom to be important when on long trips.

Finally, the U-dinette. Decide how important that is to you. I think the ikss has a regular dinette and the 233S and 23SS have the U-dinette. Its personal preference.

I just purchased our 2010 233S and have not put it to actual use yet. I can say with two teenagers, I targeted this model so each has a bunk.

We did our first Driveway Camp this weekend to get used to how everything works and fits with us in it. I definitely need to find a second folding table. The dinette is nice but gets tight with four.

I have the 23SS, and both my daughters (ages 10 & 7) sleep in the same bunk, facing opposite directions. Not sure how long that will last, but so far so good.

My wife picked the 23SS based on the floor plan, where she wanted the couch opposite the dinette. Absolutely no regrets on the choice.

Ask me again when I have 2 teenager girls and I may have a different answer.

x2 on the part about buy the one DW likes. You do have to open one slide to access the bathroom on the 21IKSS, but you can open either one. The kitchen slide isn't as deep, so it isn't too big a hastle. The 23IKSS is great if you want kitchen space and storage. We would have liked the U-dinette, but it wasn't a deal breaker, and we didn't need the 3rd bed so that didn't come in to play for us.

We love our new Roo, and seems like all 3 of your choices are good ones.

Thanks for all the replies. I have noticed all the showers in these hybrids are very small do you guys use them or just use the showers at the campgrounds....

I've used the shower. It's tight.

Our last camper had four bunks so our two girls could be separate and have room for a friend or extra stuff.
We opted for the 233s because they needed more bed space and keep separated. I needed a few things for myself, being just over 6ft tall. Nice tall shower with skylight, headroom at the doorway, and roomy front bunk.

all 3 have pros and cons to each. to me, the 23SS has the least amount of cons.

the 233S will be harder to keep cool/warm since you have 3 canvas bunk ends that will need Popup Gizmos and you have one extra big hole in the side that the other two don't have.
so, the 233S only makes sense if you have a larger family that makes having the 3 queen beds worth it.

the 23IKSS has some great features but the kitchen slide take up some of the area under the awning. plus, the jury is still about about the awning over the sharp corners of that slideout. plus you have to open one of the slides, while traveling, to access the fridge or bathroom.

the 23SS has a lot of counterspace without needing the 23IKSS's island and everything can be accessed without opening the slideout. it has massive inside storage which the 233S doesn't have and only two bunk ends to deal with.

i will say that if the 23IKSS had been around in 2006, when we bought our 23SS, we would have probably bought it instead cause the DW loves that kitchen and having access to the inside, while traveling, isn't a deal breaker for the two of us.

The height isn't so much a problem for me but the shower is a tight fit and hard to move around. I'm 6'3" and about 180.

Generally, though, I only use the shower on weekend trips to save water and to avoid filling up the gray water tank too fast.

Four Wheelers,
We have a 2011 233S. We bought a 4' Lifetime table that works perfect in front of the couch. When not in use we can stand it on end by the side of the fridge by the dinette so that it is out of the way. It's nice to have the extra table for prep work too.

A lot of good points mentioned. It's all about need and then preference.

My kids are 18 & 20 (boy & girl) and the only time we can all camp together is Thanksgiving.....so we can make it work. Other than that weekend, it is usually the wife and I and perhaps one of the kids.

Had my kids been younger when we bought our HTT, we would've bought the 233S. It makes morre sense for three bunks.

However, given the kids ages, and the frequency that they will camping with us, the 23SS seems like a great choice. We love the floor plan and have not regretted buying it.

23 SS ... All I can say is storage storage storage. Pack it up - pop it open when you get there. All set. No fuss. No duffle bags, suitcases, boxes, or loose junk. Very nice.

We love our 233s. we had a starcraft antigua with 1 big slide out and 2 pop down bunks but like the 3rd pop out very much. The extra ceiling fan in the front area and the light/fans for each bunk really do help with the cooling issues.

Just bought our 233s and we have been looking at it for 3 years. We finally pulled the plug. 3 beds were a big seller for us.

Lovin our 233S. My latest mod is an outside stove using the barbeque mount and an e-bay purchased 3 burner stove.

Pictures on out there Fourwheelers. Click on my "User" name and find my album. I have just about all my mods there. I love to screw around with stuff. My wife say's, "You can't leave anything alone, can you". Nope! I just added a "Tongue Box" and put on a larger storage door to the rear.
