233s

I went to the Rv show this weekend to look at the trailers, and i stumbled accross a new trailer. Rockwood Roo 233S I bought a 2009 roo 233 last july and now I see this new addition. i want that model!!!. I wonder how much the dealer would give me on a trade in, on a barely used 8 month old trailer.. AHHHHHH I should have waited on that purchase..

Depreciation may depend on the type and model. My camper has depreciated about $2,000 a year and I have a 2006 Rockwood 8314ss model. You are better to sell out right. It's is my understanding if the dealer sells you a new camper at wholesale price, then they will give you wholesale price for your trade In and if they sell you a new camper at retail price then they will give you retail price for your trade In. Something to check into and ask your sale person about this. I am told that RV's (TT& pop-up's) dealings are handled different then auto's but Motor Homes may fall in the same category as auto's.

i also think you'll be better off selling it yourself. a dealer will low ball it, knowing that you must be desperate to turn around and want to buy another similar trailer, so soon.
i'd put your 233 on Craig's List and see what you can get.

I'm currently looking at the 233s, did you think that there was appreicable difference in the storage space that is lost from the 233? With the wife and three young kids the only concern is the amount of stage space. We looked at the 21ss and there wasn't much storage but factory rep stated that there was alot more storage. Any info on the 233s would be greatly appreciated.

I would agree on selling yourself. We tried to trade our 23ss one year after buying it and the dealer of course did not want to give us much. Put it on Craigslist and got exactly what I wanted ($5K more than what the dealer offered) and then turned around and purchased the new Ultra Lite.

if you don't mind me asking why did you up-grade to the ultra-lite? Any problems with the Roo?

No problems. Just got tired of the set up and tear down times (especially if the weather was rainy!) and didn't sleep well in the tent ends - too much outside noise. It was a nice unit.
