233s slide awning

My new Roo didn't come with a slide awning over the dinette.

Does anyone have an idea of what one would cost?

Is it a necessity?

Not a necessity but certainly a nicety in the same way a power jack is.

I am not sure without looking it up but I'm afraid to say they are a bit more expensive aftermarket than OEM.

The main benefit is to keep debris off your slide that have the potential to damage it when retracted.

Measure the length of the slideout roof and check Camping World for price and then go to ebay or amazon.com and check for a comparison. You and DW or a friend can do the install. There are videos showing installation on You Tube.

So I made a mistake and didn't add the feature now it's too late. I may look at the You Tube vid and do it myself with help as suggested.

So I guess those of us that don't have the awning need to get a ladder and check the top of the slide before closing? May bring a push broom in the truck until..... Other recommendations appreciated. Hear the gasket is expensive to replace. Even WITH the awning I think I'd want to check the top before sliding it in.

i added it. no regrets. first trip out after i got it installed, the camper returned from a weekend trip with a strip of blue paint along the metal cover of the dometic slide awning.

DW happened to turn a corner or go through some entry and scraped the camper without feeling it.

the slide awning protected the side of the camper since it stuck put farther than anything else. the metal slide cover protected the awning......Nothing broken or damaged.

i know this was not the intended reason for the awning, but it definitely prevented what would have been a costly repair.

Oh....the slide topper is keeping the debri from collecting on the top of the slide and it is working as desired.

i recommend getting one.

I have a slideout awning and I do that, especially if camping under trees.
