23IKSS Mods

Little by little I've been working through my list of mods for our 22IKSS.

Mod 1: Plexiglass panel for the screen door to keep DMTTSAP (da mutt that thinks she's a person) from ruining the screen.

Mod 2: Installed Progressive Industries surge protector in the cabinet in the bathroom. Plenty of slack wire to splice it in and plenty of room to work.

Status monitor fit on the front of the cabinet. Always nice to see "E0"

Mod 3: Plexiglass panel on the shower side of the bathroom cabinet.

Pop rivets made for a very fast installation. Aluminum rivets won't rust and a drop of caulk sealed the center.

Mod 4: Shower splash guards and shower curtain clips

Used pop rivets again to anchor the splash guards. The tape and caulk alone left them wobbly.

Mod 5: Garbage can anchor. Got into my kayak rigging kit for this one. Used some nylon anchors and bungee cord. Now we don't have to secure it when traveling. Click image for larger version

Also swapped out the shower head for an oxygenics. More mods in the plans but these were the most important upgrades for the first round. None of these ideas were original and I appreciate all of the pics and ingenuity that others here are so willing to share. Thanks!

Awesome mods? Are you considering some type of gutter system above each of your bunk ends?

I found some "U" shaped aluminum flashing at Home Depot that I may experiment with but so far it seems that if I have the fans running when folding up the bunks, we don't get leaks. (fingers crossed)

Great workmanship. I like the use of the pop rivets. Where are your shower guards from?

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I picked up the shower guards from Home Depot:

Magic Large Splash Guard for Tubs and Showers-1810 at The Home Depot

One more mod I forgot to list was to install a Camco Quickie Flush for the black tank. I did the installation before the black tank had gotten much use, so it was not hard or unpleasant to install. It makes black tank maintenance a whole lot easier. Highly recommended.

Thanks for info. I was just looking at your pic again and I am trying to figure out if our interior island is different. I think that where your garbage is, I have a cabinet door??
Also maybe just the angle of your pic, but is your island a rectangle or is the side closer to the bathroom on an angle ...

Our island does not have a door where the garbage can is located. I think that is one of the changes for 2015. Previous years had (I believe) doors on all four sides which I thought was overkill. Our island has two doors on the stove side and two on the dinette side, but none on the ends.

And yes, the side of the island towards the front is square, but the back side by the bathroom is at an angle.

Thanks for giving me some more ideas. I installed the quickie flush in both gray and black tanks the best mod I could have done.

Quick question about the splash guard please (side closest to toilet). When I went to install mine, the shower and wall were not at a 90 degree angle and there was a gap between the splash guard and wall (or shower). Was yours like this as well and how did you install it if so?

Thanks!!

The wall by the toilet was pretty square but the one by the sink was not. The splash guards have a removable "track" on the bottom and the back that are designed to help if the wall is not perfectly square.

Actually, maybe track is not the best description. The wide flange that touches the wall and shower tub is removable/adjustable. Get those secure and then slide on the splash guard.

I do have another question (you might start charging $$ )

How do you find the steadiness of the camper ? We are parked in the driveway.. Have the anderson chuk/levelers set, stabilizer bars down, but i still feel rockiness.. Never slept in a tt, (only an RV) so not sure what to expect..

Stupid "what if" .. but if someone rolls over in bed should ..the whole camper rock ?? Lol

Thanks again...

For front to back movement, the x-chocks really help a lot. But we do still have some side to side movement. The stabilizers are designed to help with that but we are all told not to crank them down too hard for fear of bending the trailer's frame and making things askew. That makes the door hard to open.
Honestly I have not found that happy medium where they are tight enough to limit side to side rocking without starting to lift the trailer. DaGrinch uses these and has found that they made a big difference.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...r-s-66586.html

Some have also added a flip down step stabilizer which will keep the trailer from rocking when you go up and down the steps. I may add that first and see how much it helps.

Keep the questions coming!

I am looking into the BAL X-chock's for my pop up. Hoping that helps as well. I too have a bit of movement that I would like to lessen.

Vin.

Thanks

I purchased the x chocks... Did not try them yet, but plan to this weekend. We are parked in the driveway and do have the stab jacks down but not too tight to the ground at all.. I was worried... I will check how much give there is in the AM and also check out that link you sent.
I did read about the doors and thankfully I have no issues there and don't want to make any.

BTW I don't have a cabinet on the island where you placed your garbage... So that mod might just be on our list!

If you are able to use the stabilizers without extending them very much, that is supposed to help with the side to side movement. Bal x chocks do help quite a bit for front to back.

BTW, where did you find the shower curtain clips for your shower mods? Thanks!
