23SS Slide Not Working
We have a 23SS, and the slide went out fine -- although my husband said he doesn't recall hearing it "click, click" at the end.
Now, it won't slide back in. We hear nothing. It is plugged in and everything else inside seems to be working. Could it be a fuse anyway? Other suggestions?

Someone with that model should chime in as well but I would guess it is a fuse near the battery if not in the power panel.

Try manually running slide back in with crank supplied with camper.
Look for fuse in here

if he didn't hear the clicking noise, it could be something not related to power.
does other 12v stuff work? have you tried manually cranking it in, so you can see if something is obstructing the slide rails or gears?
are you on shore power?

We haven't tried manually cranking it in yet -- luckily it is sitting in our driveway.

I have a fuse underneath, near the batteries, though I believe it's a main fuse, I can't remember it's been awhile. So if other items work on plug in or battery power then having power aint the problem, it's the power to the slideout!

Here's an odd question for any of you Roo owners out there that have slides, in a case like this, where the slideout won't function, is it OK to sleep on the bed while it's still slid in? I've wondered about this in our 21RS, as I bought the trailer used & I'll confess, I've never bothered to figure out how to work it if the power slide won't function?

Well if it is the same as our 21rs there is a manual crank to bring the slide in or out if the motor fails however you cannot use it as the trim gets in the way of putting the handle on. The beam that runs sideways along the back just below the slide.
We haven't slept on it with the slide in but have all ( family of 4 ) been on the bed several times with it in very small kids though.

We just got a 2013 23SS - haven't even had a chance to camp in it yet - well, aside from the back yard. We've had some problems with the fuse for the slide blowing. The fuse for the slide on ours is located under the rig in front left corner.

I was looking at a 2012 23SS, and the owners spoke of the fuse blowing if you hold down the "out" button too long. They took it into the dealer and the dealer said there was an issue with the SS, and they could install a bypass to prevent the fuse blowing.
Where is the manual crank on the SS? I have a 21SS, and I was trying to locate the manual crank location.
thanks

the seller should have shown you the crank and where to crank it.
my '07 23SS's location is under the sofa.

Our 25RS did that. It was a blown fuse and once changed works fine. We have 2 fuse boxes and one of them is actually under the camper. It took DH a while to find it. After our October camping trips we are taking it to the dealer to get that fuse box fixed. Its hardly protected and the rain is was caused the problems.

I'm thankful for this thread - keep it alive.
One day old 23SS - slide went out no problem. No clicking or other noises. Then went to close it...nothing! Checked the fuse panel etc nothing blown. Frustrated came in read this thread and HUA ! Problem solved.
FR take one of these suggestions ...
1 Put all fuses on the INSIDE. Like in the fuse panel with all the others. What we you thinking putting it underneath the unit - very junior move.
2 Build the motor so it slips instead of blowing a fuse.
3 If you gotta fuse it - use a resettable fuse instead.
To those who posted - thank you very much!

I've replaced most of my "ato" style fuses with these.
Eventually they will all be this.
Found 2 the other day I missed.

I trust my dealer 100% and this is what a 12 year RV mechanic told me about sleeping on the bed with the slides in. He recommended that we bring the slides in during extremely heavy rain. I asked if we could still sleep in the beds in the bunkroom. He said absolutely. Although a tight fit to get in the bunk room with it in he said no problem.

Ha, this happened during the pickup walk through of my 23SS last week. The tech had to ask another tech where the fuse was.

Hey Turbo
Thanks. I replaced mine with an auto resetting fuse too. I won't be climbing underneath again. Cuz you know if it goes out again on a regular fuse it will be in the muck and rain in the middle of the night.
