6 Volt batteries on the front of my 23IKS

Is there enough room to mount 2 Trojan T-105 batteries in place of the 1 - 12 volt battery on the frame of the 23IKS? It looks close but would like to here from someone who has don it.

I can't answer your question directly, however I recently purchased this battery box, designed specifically for your needs (I'm doing the same thing). Below are the dimensions:

I am guessing your Rockwood has the same amount of space as my Solaire. I mounted an aluminum battery box from Torklift on top of the frame rails where the factory battery sat. It has room for 4 batteries but I only put 2 in it. My inverter and solar charge controller are on the other side of the box. It gives some level of security because it is lockable and secured to the frame. 2 brand new Trojans might look tempting to thieves.

If you have room for two standard Group 24 12v batteries, then the 6 volts should fit.
They are taller than the Group 24 battery.

I prefer 12v group 27 battery`s .
I bought 3 battery and 3 box and 2 marine 3 ways switch.
Easier to recharge plus I interconnect with solar panel and inverter with the switch.
I also use a 2000 watt inverter generator.
I made a aluminium open rack behind the propane tank.
Less expensive deal.
I never run out of power.
I have a circuit diagram if interested.

6 volt batteries

I suspect the tongue on our rigs are similar. Recently placed a pair of 6 volt batteries on the rails of my Roo 17 without problems, but the space is tight. Going to check out the capacity this weekend with a couple of cold nights in Big Meadow Skyline Drive.

The OP has a hybrid TT.

Do you have a TT, cause unless you do some extensive modification, you aren't going to have room for three Group 27 batteries on a typical TT A-frame.

I'm guessing that you have a motorhome or 5th wheel, to be able to fit 3 Group 27 batteries.

Yes.

This is the box I installed on the existing angle iron - no modifications required (for our 2013 IKSS). Now, if you plan to use 12V, this box isn't tall enough. It is wide enough. I ended up using two 12V Gr 24 Trojan batteries because of the box height. But the existing spot on the frame is wide enough. I would have gone with the 6's, but very happy with these so far.

Torklift also makes a locking solar battery box to fit two 6V batteries (even though mine is only holding a single puny group 24 at the moment).
