Add a ladder to a Rockwood Roo TT?

Is it possible/wise to add a mounted ladder to a 2016 23 footer? It doesn't have sufficient basement space to carry a ladder so we'd prefer not to but there are times we need to check the roof while camping. All our dealer said was "if FR didn't put one on, I wouldn't add one." Thoughts or advice?

Someone got a ladder blocking placement drawing for Salem RV's a while back, so it may be possible that Rockwood places the blocking for ladders in RV's that don't come with them from the factory. You may try contacting the factory rep and see if they can get something.

Below is a link to a post that I did. It's not in regards to putting a ladder on the back of the trailer, but how to store a latter for use. I did this using 5x5 fense post and I bought the 7ft latter they were referring to and it fits perfectly.

I have that same ladder (maybe the 6' version) in my back bumper. It rides great back there and is very handy to have.

If it didn't come from the factory with a ladder, it's not a walk on roof and you will probably damage the roof. I had to put 10 foot long 2×6 on the roof to distribute my weight at 200 lbs. I could hear it cracking when I walked on it

HappyTrails8888: IF you're unit was built by Forest River go to their website, find the "contact us" tab and send them an email with your units VIN number explaining to them what you are wanting to do. I did this for my '15 Coachmen 310BHDS and they sent me back a nice CAD drawing as to the locations of two (2) 2x4's turned sideways they had installed at the factory on the rear of my unit just for mounting a ladder. It was as simple as measuring as they had described to locate the area over the boards, mark them off with blue painters tape, locate the ladder mounts, drill pilot holes them mount the ladder. I used clear silicone at each screw hole also. Ask and they will also tell you if it would be safe to walk on your roof.

How will you drop the rear bunk door if you've got a ladder blocking it?:what::what::what:

I too have a colapsable ladder and find it more useful than a fixed ladder.

A little curious about that too. I have seen a side mount latter. Maybe that's what the OP is wanting. I carry a 12 foot collapsing ladder in the bed of my truck. Very small closed, light weight and has a 330 lb. load rating.

The OP's Roo has a rear wardrobe slide on the curbside and a 12' slide on the driver's side.
Doesn't leave many places left.
Plus none of those areas have blocking for mounting a ladder.

The only trailer I've seen with a side mounted ladder, was a no slide toyhauler.

I have not gotten on my roof yet, but the dealer noted that one can walk on the roof of a Roo all day long and have no issues. Has anyone else heard this statement or have concerns after walking on the roof of their Roo?

Yes 1Roo4Ladds, I asked about getting up on the roof, was told that there is no issue with walking around up there. Now whether I have the guts to do it is another matter.....

Re: Post #12: If the Roo has a solid back wall and IF this wall has the ladder mounting studs then a ladder could be mounted on the back wall. Re: Post's #6 and #13: When I bought my unit back in January of '15 I was told that ALL of Forest River's units have roofs that one could walk on. Yes, I do understand that I was talking to a salesperson, but that is what he told me.

Roos don't have solid back walls. They are hybrids, or expandables, with drop down bed ends.

I had a Shamrock 23ss and walked on my roof with no issues. Of my four trailers it seemed the strongest of them all. Shamrocks and roos are almost identical. I am NOT a light weight guy either.

NO
A trailer has to have an optional ladder for the factory to install backing during assembly.

This is NO such option for any hybrid, therefore no such backing.
