Aluminum Wheel Lug Wrench
Just wondering what others have purchased to use as a lug wrench for the aluminum wheels; as a standard lug wrench, nor a thick socket fits in the lug bolt hole in the rim. I'm currently using a long standard socket on a breaker bar...that fits in there. What are you using?

I use chrome thin wall sockets and an impact, and to do a final hand torque, I have a 24"rachet with a 1/2"-3/8" adaptet and put the socket on it. I will break a few sockets a year, but i use them everyday. But that is why u buy a warrantee able socket like snapon or another brand.
Sometimes its whatever will work in a given situation!

Thin wall socket, 6" extension and a Williams 0-250 lb/ft torque wrench.

Just use my standard 4 way lug wrench and for the final tightening...a deep socket with my torque wrench.

1/2" Drive Torque ----------------
1/2" Drive torque wrench can be purchased from Harbor Freight with a coupon for $11.99. It is not the best torque, but the specs are close enough to use on your camper aluminum rims and dedicate it to the camper. I store mine under the sofa in the pull out drawer.

A standard 4-way will not work on some of the thin wall wheels where the lug nut is recessed back into the wheel. If you have a 4-way and think it will 'work', check it now before you hit the road and then find out that you have no way of getting your flat off. Do not trust that a tow service will have the right socket. My F-250 needs a Deep socket because of the length of the lug bolts. My last flat the AAA guy had to take it off by hand using my truck lug wrench as his impact was not deep enough.

By the way.... I would also be interested to know what type of additional jack do you keep handy when hauling your camper? I "ALWAYS" carry an additional jack when hauling a trailer, but I haven't decided what is most appropriate for this Roo... as I only got it last Fall. I haven't tested my truck jack yet, I've just been hauling around my small shop jack.

Over the years I have come to trust a jack less and less in changing a tire. I have measured and cut 2x6 treated boards and stack them in a pyramid shape and drive up or back up on it with the good tire. This will take the bad tire off the ground and maybe then I will use a jack to stabilize it some more.

I don't pay much for these cause I keep all these in my truck tool box where they get beat around some. But, they are cheap and get the job done. I would not want to use them everyday like Turbs would in his job...but for occasional use, they work.

That's not only a great idea, but seems to be the safest. I'll definitely use that idea.

Blocks are my preferred method as well...used them on a trip just last fall. I carry the bottle jack just in case the wood blocks can't be used for some reason.
