Question Anyone installed Stromberg Carlson AM-800 Lend-A-Hand Door Handle on a Roo?

I ordered one of these to make the step up to my Roo 21SS 2010 easier and make the the trailer look more modern (all the later models have them). It installs on the left hand side of the door and it looks like the screws will penetrate the interior based on my quick look this evening before it got dark.

http://www.amazon.com/Stromberg-Carl.../dp/B003YJNY9I

Should I install and try to find something that will hide the penetration? It has alot of postive reviews and some do mention that the screws penetrate the interior walls.

Ideas greatly appreciated.

I would measure your wall thickness and buy shorter screws to use instead of the ones that come with it. Be sure to put sealant on the outside where the screws go in.

I put one on the garage door of the 315wp and the screws did not come thru.If you have the plastic throwaway handle on there from the factory, there will be one hole you cant cover up.I ran a #10 oval head SS screw into the hole with a trim washer and a gob of lexall sealant.

I just used the stock screws that came with the unit. Didn't come through on the inside at all.

Which trailer do you have?

If the screws did go through I imagine there must be some way to cover and dress it up.

It will defiantly make it easier to get in the TT. Wonder why they still are using the funky ones. Later RJD

I finally got around to taking a closer look and was quite encouraged by rbk's remark. Looks like walls are 1.5" thick which is common for TT's , screw into wall is 1.25". No protrusions and looks great.
