awning on the backside of roo

We have a 23ikss, without a slide cover on the dinettes slide. I'm not fond of them, as I see lots of campers that do have them have to deal with the "pool" after a rainstorm. Has anyone mounted an awning instead on the back side of the camper? Not a full depth one like the front side, but maybe one that just extends far enough to give the slide some cover and shade the couch window a bit. Is this even possible?

never seen anyone do this but i have to say that our slidetopper has worked perfectly for over 8 years now.
and never had any pooling. and it's over 12' long.

wouldn't have a slideout without a topper over it.

The slidetopper has adjustable tensioners to take out slack.

I know people have installed extra awnings on different campers. One time that I asked about moving an awning on a fifth wheel, the manufacturer had concerns that they didn't have backers installed where I wanted it.

I'm not sure if you can or can't do it with the Roo. You'd need a substantial support for it.

We had the dealer install a slide topper on our ikss and are very satisfied with it. Ours was new last year and since wife and I are vertically challenged , we knew it would be difficult to keep the top of the slide clean. It works great with minimal pooling.

I've always had toppers on my trailers. The one I have now does pool pretty bad so I have a 6 ' pole that I can push up on one end to unload the water. I just have to be sure no ones on the other side when I do it. Specifically DW. Would make for a very long trip.

After one fall trip in Georgia and bringing home leaves and pine needles we couldn't get off, the toppers were installed that winter. I just pull the slide in a little and let the water flow and no other problems. Sure beats trying to get it clean enough so stuff doesn't get inside the trailer. It is also a little quieter when it rains.

I do like Stormrider151.... climb my ladder and insert broom to the area between the topper and the slide roof and push up, throwing all the water over the outside edge. I prefer this to trying to clean leaves and debris off the slide roof which currently at a little over 2 years old still looks as if it is brand new, no stains or marks at all....the topper of course doesn't look as pretty, but that's because I am waiting on less humidity to drag my rig home open the slide and get up there and clean the topper!

A MOD that I am considering is a simple PVC pipe "arm" and support that I can slide in once my slide is out that just has a 90 degree angle "soft edge" to hold the center of the topper up and encourage rain to run off instead of pool in the middle...if I ever get to it I will take photo's and post up to the forums, but I will bet someone else has already beaten me to it and there is something like that already in use!

I like the "partial awning" idea for that side..but would hate to have to have that much surface area to clean mold and mildew off of!

A simple thing to do to not have pooling is a beachball under your topper and roof of slideout. Lightweight and easy to move out when moving the slide back in.
