I am assuming you are asking if we use the RVQ on the side of the trailer, with the awning open ? Yes, but carefully.
As it is pretty small and does not put out too much heat (8,000 BTU I think) it has limited use if you're a T-Bone steak kinda guy/gal. If we have veggies in foil for example, or a frozen lasagna, we'll slow cook there before the meal.
If I have some heavy duty grilling to do, I'll use another grill, outside the awning area. Looking at getting a Q100 soon, as Santa was hard of hearing this year, he never got my clues ....

That looks good!
But.....I want to use charcoal for camping.....
We have gas at home, and I like to mix things up a bit.

item 39740 at lowes .. Its about 24x24x 8.. Did a good job cooking 8 burgers at a time .. I usually cook them with onions grilling on heavy duty foil at first ...flipping once..on each side... then pull them off the foil and finishing them right on the grill .while still cooking the onions..

8 inch height or maybe..more like 10 .. have him try Mc cormicks hamburger seasoning on one side (lightly) and Mc cormicks Montreal steak on the other (lightly).... sharp cheddar cheese .. and ALWAYS fresh ground angus beef .. I use between 2 1/2 to 3 lbs for 8 burgers

Absolutely. We used our RVQ under our awning for the 5 years we had our travel trailer. It was awesome. Perfect for the two of us. Never had any problems with smoke under the awning, staining, fire issues, or any of the other stuff people are paranoid about. I really miss that thing.

I like to use our Coleman grill when an open fire is not an option. After 3 years we have not been disappointed.

We take the PK and it has always amazed others who see it in action. Not a cheap charcoal option but gives the user many options and is like weight and it can be disassembled easily. Add a charcoal chimney and old newspapers and you are good to go. Don't use it under the awning!

We use our RVQ under the awning all the time. If you place your hand way up there above the lit RVQ, you'll see there is really no heat problems, even on a calm day. Besides, most of the time it is closed anyway. Randy

We always use our RVQ under the awning with no issues, however we are considering buying a larger grill for camping b/c we usually need more grill space. We also have to close doors and windows or the smoke alarm will go off inside the camper!
