Battery Pos. side cut????

******Cross posted:*****

ok....so I have had our camper a year......Hybird Shamrock 2002 model.....I knew it did not have a battery on it....so I thought I might buy one and put on there....to have when we are not connected to AC....Lights and such.....so I pulled the cover off the gas tanks...and the connector on the Pos. side of the cable has been cut off???????.......hummmmmm....why?

I can put another on easy......but why was it cut ....makes me think something might be wrong?????......how can I find out?

guess just get one and hook a Battery up and see what smokes

is if common if there is a issue to CUT the cable?.....or did he need the battery and did not have time to remove the lug.....and just cut the wire?

any thoughts???

Thanks,

Athens

The terminal may have been corroded so bad it had to be cut. I had a car do that once and had to replace it. Try putting on a new one and see what happens. If something is bad wrong it will spark bad right at first. Not a bad idea to have fire extinguisher on hand too.. Good luck

Besides having a battery to supply power when you are not on AC, your trailer's electric brakes require it when towing. Your emergency brakes will not work without a battery (need power for the breakaway switch).

Good idea to get one on there.

I can't think of a reason to cut it off unless it was corroded.

yep, you're breaking the law by transporting the trailer without a battery, since it has electric brakes.

maybe someone stole the battery and cut the wires to take it quickly.

Unfortunately, that was my first thought as well.
