Battery Switch

Does it disconnect the battery when you pull out or push in the switch?

might have to stick a volt meter on the terminals to be sure .
otherwise turn on lights in camper then push button or pull it to see when the turn off .

i think you need to give us more info. what switch are you talking about? like was said, a pic is worth a thousand words.

Roo hybrids don't have a battery disconnect switch unless you installed it or the previous owner did.

The switch in our 2012 Roo 183 (brand new) is located below the fridge, a little silver knob, push/pull affair. I tried the trick of leaving the lights on and activating the switch, but I guess when the trailer is plugged in, the converter is giving the system 12-13 volts dc. I wish they would put a wiring diagram for the whole trailer. Oh well

i looked at some pics/videos of the 2012 183 and i did see a round silver thing on the front of the converter/breaker/fuse panel's cover.
is that what you're talking about?
if so, i've never seen that on any Roo/Shamrock. didn't they tell you in the walkthrough what it did or what it was for?

the converter's manual should have some info what it's for.

No, this silver knob is about 6-12 inches away from the converter, but on the same level. It's definitly a battery kill switch, i just need to figure out which position does what.

I've got a 2012. Must be something new with the 2012 1/2's because mine doesn't have this.

And, why would they put a disconnect so far away from the battery?

Well, as far as so far away from the battery.... it is right beside the converter and it is inside out of the elements. All they had to do was break the lines coming into the converter......Maybe

Seems strange to me because I have always thought that a disconnect needs to disconnect completely. If they installed one on my trailer near the converter they wouldn't have been able to disconnect the slideout or the power jack.

i couldn't see anything like that in any of the pics or video.
did the rv tech mention it in the walkthrough?

Our 233S (2012) has a silver knob next to the inverter that is a battery disconnect. Push in to disconnect, pull out for power. I don't know if this is another thing they added to the new 2012's, but it was explained during our walk-through at delivery.

If you look closely at the pic, the knob is to the right of the inverter and beneath the fridge. I hope this helps.

In my rig the slide won't budge if the battery disconnect switch is in the OFF position.

I'm saying with the configuration there talking about with the disconnect inside trailer disconecting the converter.
Boyd all of your electrical is after your disconnect switch there for all is dead.

My unit has slides and front stabs hooked straight to battery and if I disconnect positive cable with switch they still work.
now if I disconnect ground with switch all is dead.

You don't know that is the case with biken201's trailer (unless you have this same feature, which is new, on this 2012 1/2 trailer) so the question is not answered until he answers it

My argument is that a disconnect so far away from the battery does not disconnect everything wired in front of the converter. But its just a guess. Hence the question.

Gotta love the uniformity, eh Turbo?

AC to the left and DC to the right....Except what I've wired direct to the batteries....Inverter/Sirius/Solar Shore power plugged in, battery switched off, slide doesn't work.

I don't have a power tongue lift, so I can't speak to that; but the slide still operates with the battery disconnect killing power to everything else.
