And if the rack and/or bikes were to let go and cause a lethal accident, the prosecution would have a field day finding a thread like this where the defendant was warned, but still went ahead and towed in a manner that was strongly recommended not to do. Social media can be a real problem when comments once made are introduced as evidence during litigation.

Different camper, different situation - but my buddy drug his bikes and spare tire down the road due to a bike rack that clamped on. He was all proud of it 2 trips prior to that...

should be a sticker on the bumper telling you that doing this, is against the manufacturer's recommendation.
it will void the frame's warranty.

this is how i haul my bikes if i don't put them inside the hybrid:

there's plenty of room to make most turns, unless it's a very sharp one.
and i can keep an eye on the bikes, in my rear view mirror.
cost me a total of $60 for the whole setup.
and the bike rack folds down, so can access the bed when unhooked from the trailer.

I just picked up my new 23IKSS last Friday. When I ordered it the salesman showed me a Swagman bumper mount for my bike rack. From reading this forum, it looks like this is a really bad idea. Bikendan: Can you provide some additional information on your setup. I used a Swagman with a ball on my popup that I just replaced, but it is not heavy enough for the 23IKSS.

mine is like this one:

doesn't have the nicer bike mounts on top but the bottom is the same.
but this one sells for a great price on Amazon, $67! but shipping seems high.
i just use a bolt instead of the ball, to mount it to my truck's step bumper.
