bikes on the dinette

Well, now we have a hybrid trailer, we want to take the bikes with us when we go to the beach next week. I have seen the mod that installs bike fork mounts on the bench and just flip over when not needed. I really liked that and wanted to do that with our camper. But with 4 bikes, the location of the aluminum bench supports and the fork mounts just were not jiving.
So we ended up putting the fork mounts on 1x2 boards and strapping down the boards to the bench. Holes were drilled in the bench board so that the strapping threads under the board, crosses the aluminum bench supports and comes back up to include the mounts so the boards can't shift. Not as nifty as the original mod, but just wanted to post another option if you find the mounts and bench supports do not want to play nice with each other....

I made up a piece of plywood and 2X4's and mounted 4 of them fork locks to it and was able to get 4 bikes on the dinette. I staggered the mounts forward and backwards about 12" between the front ones and back ones. I put down a couple of thick moving blankets and put the plywood set up down on top of the blankets. I dont wrap a strap around the rear of all 4 bikes so that they dont shift and so far so good. It is a pretty cheap set up if you have the wood already laying around.
