Black tank

How do u go about cleaning your black water tank on regular trips? We really don't want a stinky bathroom.

Put some ice down your toilet and it will slosh around and clean sensors and bottom of tank as it melts while you drive.

And start with water in the tank before you flush.

we always have a minimum of 5 gallons of water with Odorlos added.

never had a smell.

do use the ice method and have a spinning wand sprayer i put down the toilet to break up stuff, before final dump.

So even after you dump and if camper is sitting for a while before next use we should keep some water and chemical in tank?

Except over the winter we always keep a couple gallons in the tank. After a tank dump I add a couple of gallons and some Calgon. Driving with that mixture agitates the tank like a washing machine.
If you want a very good method, search the Geo method.
I have had good success with it. Keeping a little water in the bowl really keep any odors in there instead of the trailer.

I use the geo method as well. What I also do: when getting ready to leave the CG and it's time to dump (regardless of levels in tanks,) I'll fill the tanks with water--open a water tap for gray and use a stick to open the pedal valve on the toilet. Fill, then dump. Then, I fill again with clean water, dump both again. Then put a little water and chemicals (and ice if desired) for the ride home, and you're ready for the next trip. It takes a little longer (all the filling and dumping,) but my tanks are clean and I've never had any odor doing it this way.
