The towing Capacity doesn't matter as much as the payload of it, with that said what your payload?

If you don't know where it's at, it's the yellow stick in your door jam!!!!!

My FWD Traverse payload is 1598lbs. His will be even less if it's AWD. Since it's a 3-bed TT, I'm assuming he's got at least 3 people besides himself, plus their gear.

I'm pretty sure he's overweight on payload.

The weight police are coming to get you. I tow a 21SS with an Acadia rated at 5200 also. Performance is good but extremely hilly 4 lane highways are a problem, I do have to slow down.

Would I prefer a better tow vehicle? Yes, but the Acadia is all I have for now. I'd actually consider towing a bit more as performance isn't that bad. I've been behind many bigger trailers with better tow vehicles that can't seem to keep posted highway speed.

That's not to bad at all...........I did go and read some post at a Traverse forum and some posts were talking about the hitch only being able to handle 600# of tongue weight even with a WDH......which would push the limits of a 233S!!!!!

There's a guy on the Traverse forum who claims he pulled a 28 ft Airstream to Alaska.

Rather him than me.

Some people push the envelope. Some people rip the envelope to shreds. To quote a wise man.." you can't fix stupid "

From where the dealer is, to where the campground is where my 233S stays all the time is a matter of a 4 mile drive on flat level roadway.

We're looking at possibly purchasing a Dodge Durango with a 5.7L HEMI® V8 Engine. The tow rating is 7200 lbs. Would this be a strong enough vehicle to tow a 231KSS or should we look for a truck with a larger towing capacity?

You have to realize that this scenario is in the vast minority.
If you had informed us of this, most of us wouldn't have any issues with your combo.

Tow rating is only part of the equation. What is your payload rating, found on the door of the tv? That is the maximum weight that can be carried inside the Durango. That includes passengers, cargo and the tongue weight of the camper. If that total is less than the payload rating, you're good.
