Brought home our new Shamrock today!!!

The new Shamrock 23IKSS came home today. We are very excited!!!

We had an excellent PDI... nearly 4 hours. They invited us to call or stop by any time we had follow up questions.

This was my first time towing too. It wasn't too bad as a majority of the ride was on the interstate. Most of my speed was at 60 (on a 65 mph road) so not too many folks were pleased with me I'm sure. The Equalizer 4 pt sway did a great job. The existing Hayes brake controller that was in the truck when I bought it worked well at high speeds but was really touchy at slow speeds. I would barely touch the brake and we would abruptly stop. So I guess I have some adjusting to do.

On the trip down I got 19mpg going 65mph. On the ride back towing we got 9 mph ranging from 55-65, but mostly 60. Tranny temp stayed locked on 210 degrees.

Just to make things interesting, mother nature threw a pretty good snow squall at us during the drive. The snow wasn't the only thing white as my hands were tight on the wheel.

I was really nervous about backing up into the driveway. For one the driveway is not straight and then I have to thread the needle to get the camper through a 12 foot opening between a fence and a rock wall. DW was an excellent spotter. We used cell phones on loud speaker mode and that worked great with hearing every instruction.

We went for the Table and Chairs option vice the dinette and we are very happy with the look and the room we have around the table.

DW liked the wood look floor on the Rockwood Roo. The Shamrock wood look floor is different for 2017. But on our 1st trip to the dealer we met a Forest River rep who told us and our Dealer he would put the Rockwood floor in the Shamrock for us. So we are very thankful.

Now we are starting to consider all the things we need to get for the 1st trip this Spring.

Ron

Congratulations! We got our new 23ikss Roo in December, also brought it home in a snowstorm! It sits waiting patiently in the back yard for our first trip as soon as the weather in Mass breaks. But something tells me that we will be sleeping in it in the back yard as soon as it gets warm enough.

In the meantime we are making mods to it to get ready, and that helps a little with the wait.

I added shelves in the wardrobe closet by the back bunk, my Progressive Industries hard wired unit just got delivered so I will be doing that in the next few weeks, and I just finished designing some brackets to attach awning poles.

We traded our 2015 Roo 19, this floorplan is just so much better for us!

Congrats on the new trailer. The 220 degrees on the tranny is surprisingly high especially towing in cold weather.

If your brake controller is like the ones I have had there should be a manual way to engage it. You probably need to back off the setting some first. Go to a parking lot with lots of room. Then start rolling and engage it without your truck brakes. You want the trailer to start stopping you. Not abruptly but smoothly. You can tweak your setting a few times to get it the way you like it. Trailer should assist the stopping when using your brakes not take over.

At least that is how I use it.

Sorry, I read the gauge wrong. It's 210, right in the middle. It's sat on 210 for 8 years. Is that bad? Could the gauge be bad?

Are you looking at the transmission temp gauge or the water temp? That sounds more like the water temp, it would be high for the transmission temp.

Yep... I'm an idiot. You are right I was looking at the water temp.

The transmission temp is on the DIC that I can scroll through. So I did not measure that today.

Guess that gives me a good excuse to hook up tomorrow and drive around for a while.

Cograts on the camper, and if it were me I would keep the floor the way it was made, changing it could lead to trouble later on down the road and if I'm not mistaken, the floor goes under EVERYTHING so changing it corectly would be a tough job. I would check around the forum here about it if I were you.

Mainframe... We had the camper made for us. When it was manufactured they installed the ROO floor at the factory. We're not modifying anything. It's done.

Oh sorry misunderstood your floor deal, that is truly awesome! so cool they did that and you are ready to go! Are you good at mods? On here someplace a few people have installed an electric fireplace in the iks hybrids, I thought hard about getting that camper but the DW wanted the rear bedroom so well we got the 23ws, I like my camper but having the fireplace would be pretty cool. Also if you want to make it more solid while walking around check out JT strong arm stabilizers, they are a great mod, also a must have is the oxygenics shower head it really is a must have enjoy!

Also can you possibly post some pics of your camper? Love to see the floor and it open, are you in a warm area?

It's a Beauty

Great looking unit; liked the picture. I picked up my Roo 23ws last Oct. Can't wait for warm weather to come to Delaware. I too spend time in the trailer reading and working on minor modifications. That, and reading this forum, help the time to go by as we wait for Spring.
