Question

justing thinking.....are the brown spots on the underside or top side of the awning? If top side could the brown spots be ash mark....little burn spots from ashes that float around from a fire pit??

just a thought.....

The brown stains are on the white underside of the awning. Either there aren't any on the top side or they are not noticable.

The bleach and water mixture worked on everything except the brown stains.

I'll through another thought in the mix. My RV lives out side in So Cal and the Vinyl roof and only the exposed first little bit of the awning (which is the only white part of my awning) has this kind of Tanish orange look to it in a few places almost like a sun burn on it. I have owned it since Nov 2011 and it was manufactured in Feb 2011. Got any ideas if its a problem. I would not think it is mildew but could the original poster have this kind of issue also.
