Bumper mount bike rack?

I ordered the safety struts from Mount-N-Lock and will install them. Then I am going to remove the spare and stick in my tow vehicle. I ordered one of the clamp on receivers and will put a light weight 2 bike carrier for kids bikes and will strap them with tie downs to prevent movement. Weight will not be much more than the spare itself and with the safety struts should help reinforce the bumper. I emailed forest river directly. He did not come out and say it was ok but said "you have the right idea" so will run with this option for now.

Of course he won't come right out and say it......... so "when" it fails he's not on the hook!
Good luck with that!

what people fail to realize is that bikes mounted on the rear bumper, have different physics happening, than the spare tire on the bumper.

bikes are held out and away from the back of the trailer, while the tire is right up against the back.
therefore, when traveling, it's like walking with a heavy object held out with your arms extended vs. having the heavy object close to your chest.

it causes a levering effect.
