Bunk end seal question

Okay, so some of you know my front bunk end has damage I thought my brother caused. But now I'm not so sure. I was looking at the seals over the weekend, I noticed some rubber/silicone caulk along the seal. Sorry I don't have pictures, maybe tomorrow. Is it suppose to be there?
