We've stayed at Camp LeConte three times. Great hosts, clean showerhouse, laundry, pool, and on the trolley route.

When we actually viewed the site they were going to move us to, it was smaller and in the boiling sun. We told them thanks, but we will stay in the first site they had given us. They told us absolutely not. We were told we could leave (with NO REFUND) or move to a different spot on our second day or they said they would have a deputy remove us. We called several campgrounds in the area to see if they had availability, but with it being a holiday weekend they were all full. Our campsite neighbors then told us that the owners move campers every day. One neighbor said he had been moved three times during his stay. Another guest left on our first day because they refused to move to another site in the middle of their stay. The owner rides around on his tractor moving trailers here and there. Craziest thing I have ever experienced. The campground is nice and clean, but the staff are very odd.
Something odd about calling the police to remove campers for not moving. Most I know would after a time figure out that the host is goofy and wasting their time. These are the things that get them cranky. This story is a Wow in my mind.

If you don't want to be right in Gatlinburg, you could check out this place. its 22 miles to downtown, We have never camped there yet, but did check it out several years ago when we spent a few days in the area. Dandridge and the Douglas lake area is really beautiful too. https://www.tva.gov/Environment/Recr...amping#douglas

There are also other really nice RV Resorts in the Dandridge area.

Will be staying at Up the Creek in a couple weeks. Never been to TN. Sounds nice by reviews here and online. Looking at retiring from the military in that area in a couple years. Plan on doing some exploring while there.

Enter city and a list should come up, then check the reviews. there are always good/bad reviews. I choose due to content of reviews.

Well there it is...issued all solved. If aceinspp says it's OK then it's definitely ok. He is real particular about his campgrounds.

THANKS for all of the great comments and suggestions. I always feel a little better using personal recommendations from fellow forum members than the "generic" reviews you find on the internet.

Check out http://rvcoutdoors.com/river-plantation/
River Plantation RV Resort they are much cheaper than any of the other campgrounds around. Big sites, good people. They are located just before you reach Pigeon Forge on hwy 66. If you want just outside Gatlinburg check out
http://www.imaginationmountaincamping.com

This campground has awesome people. It's small but well worth it. I have stayed in both places multiple times.
