City water issue

Hey all,

We arrived in Florida today to camp for the week. We have city water so I connected to it and pressurized the camper. I went over to my brother in laws camper and when I came back water was spewing out of my water tank fill. I turned off the city water for now.

It's dark so can't see much outside. Figured I'd just use the pump and holding tank water. I was wondering if anyone knew what valve I must have in the wrong position for my city water to fill my holding tank. Just would make it easier in the morning if someone else has had this issue before me and figured it out.

Thanks

Greg

Bad check valve or unseated check valve. High pressure water systems can unseat the rubber check valve located in the head of the water pump.

Where is the check valve? I have a pressure reducer but didn't install it last night since I was in a hurry. Ugh.

Any chance I can fix it or will I need to replace it?

I know this is not exactly like yours but it shows the pump head and the three check valves........one or more has come unseated by the high pressure........just make sure no debris has gotten in there. They are black rubber gaskets that act like flaps. Item #2 will hold the three check valves.

Usually following these simple steps will cure the problem

Disconnect city water
Turn on water in camper to relieve pressure.
Turn on water pump in RV and tun water for w few seconds
Turn off faucet
Turn off water pump
Reconnect city water.

X'2 what Flybob wrote. If still will not close then you are going to either get a rebuild kit easy to do or replace the pump...

Thanks for the help but it didn't work. I'll just fill the water tank and use it for this trip. Not a big deal.

So to fix it I need to rebuild the check valve in the pump or replace the pump?
