We use our old correlle in our Motorhome, gave the DW an excuse to buy new set for home. We had melamine but did not like it because it slid around the counter and table too much. There are some that are non skid, I would consider those. The only issue we had with correlle is when I made a hard right into a gas station at the last minute and they slid in the cabinet opening the door and several shattered on the floor. Not a good situation then.

We have used he same set of Corelle dishes since 2005 without breakage. In that time, we've had a class c, a fiver, class a and tt. We use a piece of the foam shelf liner between all dishes to pad and prevent things banging together.

Another vote for Corelle. Only ever had one break and that was when I dropped it on a cement pad.

We Correl for the past 3 campers never broke, but use lots of paper for every day. Don't have to wash.

My mom used Melamine when we are growing up for many, many years. I just did some research on the dangers of Melamine, it warns that putting it into the oven or microwave it will leach chemicals into the food. They also say you should not microwave anything in any plastic. I guess since we did not have microwaves when I was growing up we were safe???? Just saying they had a lack of manufacturing practices back then. I read on one site to not use acidic foods with it as well.
My mom used Corelle in her 5 wheel and was very happy with it. It is very light and durable. If they do break when you drop one it does shatter. Me, I would use the Corelle just to be safe.

We use Ikea's version of Corelle. Comes only in white and open stock; buy only the pieces you need at 89 cents per piece. Melamine gets hot to the touch in the microwave and can split. The Camping world set of melamine is cute, but I needed something microwavable.

We have plates from Target. Not Corelle, but not broken.

We have used Corelle since Corning invented them. We love them.
Now, sorry to say this but when I was a "kid" I molded Melmac dishes. They are made of a urea compound. At least they were in the 60's and when you ran the stuff through a compression molding machine the whole factory smelled like cow urine.
I went home and threw my Mothers Melmac in the trash.
Just saying
Bill

Have bought a couple of plates from this site to add to our set. Also have a fair selection of serving dishes that we were not aware of. Setup email link, they will notify you of sales and free shipping promos. Real good and timely service, stock a lot of older patterns, also some seconds that look like original.

In 1980, I fell for a salesman's pitch and bought good china. My husband didn't let me use it with the children because it was good china. Now that I am single and full-timing it, I use the good china!
I pad the the individual pieces when travelling and haven't broken one yet.
Corelle should be OK.

For those of you that have dropped and broken pieces from your sets, check out replacements, Ltd. they have everything from jewelry to fine China. They have corelle as well. Their store is in NC near Greensboro, I pass it on highway 40 all the time.

Another vote for Corelle. I surprised my wife with a new set of the Memphis pattern off eBay for our motorhome. Even added the matching glasses...
The only time one broke was when it was dropped on edge. I've done that at home as well with our older Corelle unfortunately...

Used Melanmine for years, stopedd when I got my first RV microwave since it'is not microwaveable. Been using Correlle since then. I got a "dish pack" from uhaul and that keeps all my breakable/scrathable items safe.

Corelle breakage
My experience with Corelle is household. I have noticed the older Corelle will break into tiny shards. My newer Corelle breaks into large pieces. We're pretty hard on dishes. Should be fine for camping!

We got some bpa free dishes from Walmart (sold next to the microwaves). They are microwave safe.

We have always used Corelle in the house and when we started camping in 1978 we moved the Corelle that was in the house into the fifth wheel and bought a new set for the house. We are still using those original Corelle dishes for camping. They have lasted through the fifth wheel and we are now on our third Class C motor home so that makes them....WOW...39 years old! We have never broken one (knock on wood!). I like how light they are and that they are usable in the microwave.

The wife insisted on dishes for the TT. So we got Corelle. They look nice and 4000miles+, no problem. We have a mat running from the sink to the end of the stove area too. Hopefully they wouldn't break if dropped. And, I microwave with them. Lightweight too.

We had Corelle in the 70s. After being used in a microwave, they did become very brittle and would shatter if dropped. I thought the newer plates had been redesigned to be microwave safe.
