I'm about 45 minutes north of Boston in Gloucester Ma. There are two places in Essex Ma that are great for native fried clams and lobster, woodmans of Essex, and Essex seafood. Both places are eat in the rough type of places, nothing fancy, picnic tables and paper plates but the food is great. Essex seafood is my favorite. There is another eat in the rough place in Rockport mass that sits directly on the water front and is the best place to eat on a nice day,the lobster pool restaurant. beautiful setting and decent portions and you can drive 100 yards up the street and walk around halibut state park after that has some of the best scenery on the north shore.
