Dealer is Replacing Bed Trays
My dealer in formed me that they are replacing my bed trays. What are bed trays? Is it the bunk ends that you fold down ?

I can honestly say I have never heard them referred to as bed trays, but you're probably correct.

yes, sound like they're talking about the bunk doors. never heard them called "bed trays".
bunk end doors or bunk end platforms but not bed trays.
not on any brand of hybrid.

FR is sending me new "bed cores". I presume that's what your dealer is replacing. I'm waiting for the parts to be shipped so I can find out if the "cores" are coming with the metal frame and door locks.

Yes. FR would not send parts directly to me. They insisted they have to ship to my dealer and the dealer would do the install.
My Roo's bed doors are delaminating. The trailer is beyond the warranty (2.5 yrs old and I'm the second owner), so I don't have any leverage to get them to pay for the install That will be at my expense, likely $700 - $1000 for both front and rear doors.

Itat- ok that is good the dealer will do the install. I still can't believe that a trailer that is only 2.5 years old is already delaminating. Our Roo leaked at 2 years and just weeks out of second warranty when it was noticed. I know that it started within the second year that we paid for due to the extensive water damage done over winter storage. These trailers should not have to have so much money spent when it is still so new.

Agreed. IMO its a combination of poor design and poor workmanship at the factory.
If FR improves the design and puts in place quality control measures and production processes to minimize the chances of assembly errors, the failure rate would be significantly less. The savings in warranty and non-warranty repair costs should more than pay for the costs to implement the improvements.
My son is doing a degree program in Automotive Engineering. I should ask him to challenge his classmates to come up with a design that will positively seal the bed doors with no chance for leaks or delamination! Then I'll sell it to FR!

$700 is cheap. Repairs are expensive these days. This weekend I had 2 wheel lugs (one on front wheel, one on rear wheel) gall on my daughter's 2002 Civic when rotating the tires. The dealer removed the rear brake drum and replaced the 4 studs and lug nuts. They then removed the front hub and replaced the 4 studs and lug nuts, and said the wheel bearing was loose and should be replaced. Parts were $132 for the bearing and (hang on...) $8 EACH for the studs and $8 EACH for the lug nuts. So total parts is $196. They then charged $644 for the labor! (They did wash the bird poop off the car though, so I save $8 bucks on a car wash!)

Cheap? Yes if the repair means it never leaks again and the new bed cores never delaminate, but it really shouldn't have needed this repair in the first place. If the new cores delaminate, too, or the new seals leak, too, it will be wasted money.
I got word from the dealer this week that the factory is waiting for enough orders of the old style bed cores before they do a run of them and then ship mine. Not sure when that will be but since they changed the design in the middle of 2012 production, that shouldn't be long.
