Door Closer 23SS

(I saw older posts, but I haven't seen anything recent.) I just encountered an issue with my 2012 Shamrock 23SS door closer. The closer ripped out of the door and took a big chunk of the "metal" door trim with it! I have the pictures to prove it! Now I have a nasty hole on the door which I'll have to figure out how to seal it to keep the water out. I'll be removing the closer completely. In the short time I've had this trailer, I'm not too happy with Forest River quality.

The little ram on the door bottom that opens it. I think it's a gas strut.

It's the main door, not a storage door. Pics attached.

The older posts suggest that I remove the strut all together.

I would remove that also. Is the broken peace Still in the bracket. Or is it part of the door? Put the screws back in tap the metal down and put some black permatex. In the hole that's the only thing I can think of at this time.

Mine just ripped out this weekend as well, however, I didn't lose the section as you did. I will just be switching to a larger screw and might tap in an two additional screws. The 3 don't seem to be enough.
