Electric Awning

I am new to using an electric awning on the camper. The manual that
came with the camper says that when you hook up the camper to tow
vehicle, you should be able to go into the camper and hit the awning
extend switch, and the awning should not move. If it does you should
disable a breaker for the awning or remove a fuse so that the awning
will not come out while moving down the road. My awning is not disabled
when hooked up to my truck. Is this a real problem?

Has anybody had a problem with this issue?

I don't disable mine while traveling. It seems like a bit of overkill erring on the side of caution. I do have an awning clamp though, but that is more to prevent billowing while driving.. not so much out of any concern it might extend by it's lonesome.

Don't disable it electrically, but I do lock it down. Made several locks for other folks. If the motor should engage, it still won't open and if the motor should happen to burn out, I carry 2 spares jic.

The tabs require drilling an tapping the end of the roller, whereas the strap with the pin in it just requires sliding it in the open groove.
