Electric hitch not working

We have a 2012 Rockwood Roo 233S. Our Electric hitch will not go up or down, it's stuck down. Does anyone know how to fix this or has had this problem? The motor doesn't even sound like its working. No light either.

Have you checked the fuse?
Is your battery charged?

Yes, the fuse box under the fridge doesn't show and burnt fuses and the camper is plugged in.

Agreed with the fuse. Are they still installing LCI power jacks? If so, follow the red power wire under the hitch where there will be a 30amp fuse.

Also, low voltage from your battery could cause the fuse to blow so make sure it's charged.

Let us know how this works.

(oops, sorry. You posted just as I did.)

I had done a write up on this similar situation a couple weeks ago. If you arent getting lights or up and down then the motor in the tongue jack is probably ok it just has no power.

Do what Triguy said and follow the red wire back from the tongue jack to the fuse.. If the fuse is ok, keep following the red wire back. It should go either through the frame or under it to a junction box/circuit breaker.

Mine is a Gray Wolf but had this resettable breaker behind the frame toward the front crossbar. The black button on the bottom needed to be pushed in to reset. However, if it tripped, there may be a short somewhere that needs some attention.

I believe the fuse for the jack would be an inline fuse and not a fuse on your panel. Most jacks are wired directly to battery.

I agree with ttrost. I also think that the jack switch labels should read (Up & Down) in regard to the trailer tongue,NOT (Extend-Retrack)! When the jack is very close to limits (Up-Down) it is very easy to blow a fuse. Youroo!!

Did you see a junction area? You would have to lay underneath the camper as they are usually tucked up behind the frame out of the way of debrit or the elements.

you haven't answered if the battery is charged.

most times this happens is because the resettable breaker that Blake has a pic of, has been tripped.
it's usually because the owner reversed the battery wires.

if the battery is fully charged and pressing the button doesn't work, then it's probably the jack.
the jack has its own fuse you need to check.

The battery has a full charge. I did go under the trailer and found a silver box with wires & where the red wire connects. There is no reset button that I could see.

What does a fuse look like if it's bad? They all look fine, no black spots ect.

Yes and yes. What does a blown fuse look like? They are both clear green. There is one on the red line and one closer to the box. Everything is tightly connected.

Ok do u have a volt meter ?
You need to check for power at jack switch first.
Then keep following wire till you find power.
If you don't have a volt meter it's time to buy one to keep in your camper.

ya that is a resettable breaker. The black button on the bottom of the little gray box didnt fix it? If you dont know how to tell if the fuse is blown, I would just replace it and see if it works.

Here's a pic of a blown fuse. That little piece of metal inside would be connected if it was good. And it wont usually turn black when it blows.

Did you try the tongue jack after you pressed the button on the resettable breaker? Also, is the TT plugged into the house right now?

Had similar problem with my jack, which turned out to be the inline fuse. Following the wiring from the jack until you find the fuse holder. Replace the fuse even if the original looks good.
