Entry points for water?

The corner trim on my Roo bunk door is a little thicker than the door itself, the result being it pushes the corner of the seal away from the mating surface. The seal seems to have formed itself around the trim piece, but it looks like a possible entry point for water to me. I was thinking about shaving it back to be flush with the door, but don't want to create a new problem. Any opinions?

I also wondered if anyone ever bothered to caulk around the top of the door latch?
