Extended warranty to do or not to do?

Buying a 2013 new Roo 233s should I get the extended warranty or is it a rip off like most? Your thoughts and opinions please.

Are you referring to the second year FR warranty for an additional $150 or something a third party offered through your dealer?

I just received a letter from Forest River yesterday, offering me a second year warranty for $150.00. Well I paid the $150.00 and sent it back to FR. I have a new 2013 Sabre 34REQS-6 that I bought last year. I had my 5er back to the dealer a couple of times for work. The most serious was windows on the living room slide that were installed 90 degrees off. You will be making a list of minor, or sometimes major things to be fixed. And I think $150.00 is a lot cheaper than paying for parts and labor.

I did and now my front bunk is leaking water. I'm in the second year but it will be under warranty. I'm thinking the repair will be much more than $150. My advice? that's pretty cheap insurance. One year is not much time when you consider you probably won't be in it enough to really give things a work out. 2 years really isn't enough in my opinion but that's all they offered.

hard to say...we bought the second year warranty and but have had no warranty issues anyway.

Like any 'insurance' you're gambling you'll need it and they're betting you won't.

IMHO the 2nd year warranty thru Forest River is a great deal! Never purchased one but those other aftermarket programs for $XXXX only make the dealer a profit and you really gotta read the fine print.

the 2nd year FR warranty is a no-brainer.
i stay away from 3rd party extended warranties. most of the expensive stuff(oven, a/c, canvas, fridge/freezer, furnace, WH and so on)have their own factory warranties.
and many 3rd party RV extended warranties don't cover common RV issues like delam or roof leaks, that really cost a lot.

Depends on the company providing the warranty IMO. The one we have cost abt$1800 and starts at the end of the factory warranty and goes for an additional 7 years. If we don't use it we get it all back except $500 and it covers everthing except the awning material and wear items like brakes and tires. So it is actually cheaper than the FR 2nd year (assuming you don't use it) and we have an additional 6 years. We had it on our Edgewater and did indeed get a check back when we traded it in for the V-Lite so I know it is not a scam. Of course the little things I fix myself anyway as it is faster and I know the tech.

Well put.
