Exterior Light Above A-Frame

The exterior light on the front wall of my 2010 23SS that illuminates the A frame area seems to be burnt out but I can't figure out how to remove the plastic lens so I can replace the bulb. Can anyone tell me how to remove the plastic lens? I don't see an obvious indentation or notch to pop it off. It may be buried under caulking? And while I'm asking, what is the bulb type?

Thanks.

You usually have to squeeze the edges of the lens together to release the concealed inner tabs.

Thanks. I'll give it a try when I get it back out for the next trip.

I was looking for a notch like the marker lights have so you can pry the lens off.

Just remember that I said "usually." Don't break anything! Good luck.

This is mine. The cover has two tabs on top and one on the bottom. I use a screw driver on the bottom and gently pry up until it pops out (it comes out fairly easy).

I have an LED now but the bulb is an 1141 miniature bayonet base.

Got my trailer back out this weekend. Tested everything and the switch is bad. Is this a standard size snap in rocker switch that I could pick up at a local store like Radio Shack (The Source in Canada)?

You may have nothing more than a corroded socket. The front outsite light is notorius for quick failure due to condensation. Try a little metal brush cleaning (after killing the breaker) and some dielectric grease.

Before thinking it's a bad switch, test the connection with a meter. I suspect it's only corrosion.

It is a not a great lamp and it is subjected to lots to water splash and is not really waterproof, barely water resistant.

I did as the previous poster and put in a 36 LED panel, much better light, I also greased the connector with dielectric grease. Works fine now.

Ideally a marine grade lamp would be best, but these are not cheap, and truth be told, I have rarely used it...

Thanks for the replies. I tested it last month by replacing the bulb with a new bulb. It didn't work. Then I shorted across the switch with a screwdriver and the light worked, so I concluded that the switch is bad. Honestly I doubt I'll ever use the light because I added a Husky electric jack that had 3 lights on it to light up the coupler area. I just bugs me that it doesn't work as intended. I'm a bit anal that way!
