Extra Bunk Latches?

Came back from camping and there was A LOT of hybrids-LOVE my camper. Many Roo's! I was talking with my neighbor who had a 23ikss like mine and he asked his dealer if he could purchase an extra latch system-as the ones we have are plastic and are likely to break just at the wrong time. His dealer basically wouldn't help him. Can we purchase an extra set of latches? From who?

Should be able to order parts straight from FR. I've gotten also sorts directly from them.

But the real question is do you want to replace what is there or mount different metal latches. Does it make sense to just re-install plastic ones if the first ones broke?

For now, it's just a back-up...in case. If I can get a few years without a problem and then need to replace one or two, I can get a few more years.

Oh ok. that is true. I do not think they would be breaking that often. I looked at a current 2015 23ikss and noted the latch change. I had a hard time figuring out how this was an improvement. It just did not seem to offer the positive force needed for a nice tight fit. Maybe extra thick seals were used to take care of it but to me they did not look that strong nor rugged.

It'll be interesting to see if they hold up. I have my doubts.

We used to own a four door jeep and when we first got it I tightened the knurled knobs as tight as I could to ensure a seal on the hardtop panels and the first time it rained we had quite a bit of water pouring in wetting the nav system much to our surprise. We came to find out that we were causing the issue by squeezing the seals too tight. Backed off and there was no further issues. I wonder if the same thing could apply with the latches on the Roo. Although we're not having an issue, I'm thinking that I might fabricate a cover to slip into the channel above the doors to deflect water away from directly hitting the seal. We absolutely love our 23ss and we're looking forward to camping this weekend.

Yes Aussie. Search the forum for that mod. I think people simply glue some vinyl J channel above the opening and it is a nice small rain gutter.
