Finally decided... New 23IKSS on the way!
Thanks to all the FRF'ers that have helped in our decision making!
After considering the move to a HTT from our PUP for about 2 years, we finally got around to making a decision and pulled the proverbial trigger.
We over-analyzed the heck out of the various options, weighed our priorities and finally settled on the 23IKSS. it is more room than we probably need but the deeper slide w/windows and the skylight (plus island) were key reasons why we chose it over the the other finalist - the 23SS.
The difference in weight and cost were so minor that they were more than offset (for us) by the features of the 23IKSS.
We were also able to get a mid-2015 model run which is different than the "newer" 2015s in:
Mid 2015 run:
White exterior
Aluminum framed windows
White trim (except for door)
White vents & AC cover
Late 2015 run (Sapphire package):
Tan exterior
Bonded windows
Black trim
Black vent & AC covers
Black tank flush
Solar panel connector
Both runs have the LED awning lights, the "flatter" bed platforms, etc.
We actually prefer the older white color scheme and didn't want black anything due to living under the SoCal sun. The other differences did not weigh into our decision as I have my own plans for the black water flush and solar setups.
We feel we got a good price from a midwest dealer and are opting to have the unit shipped to us in SoCal at a savings over what we were quoted from both RVW and RVD. And in our case, since there are no local Roo dealers anyway, we were going to be stuck either fixing issues ourselves or relying on a non-Roo FR shop to help with warranty claims. I couldn't see paying the closest Roo dealer over $4k more when they are still 2 hours away from us, although I did try to get them to work with us. I revealed to them our unit's pricing "all in" including tax and delivery fees and was willing to buy (somewhat) local if the price was within $1-2K -- but not $4k.
Anyway, our trailer is now sitting in the frozen midwest waiting on pickup by the shipper. Unfortunately, it won't make it here in time for our Thanksgiving trip, so we'll be having one last memorable trip in the PUP we've had for 7 years before it goes off to greener pastures...
Thanks again for your help. We hope to contribute back to the great community and are very much looking forward to our new Roo.
-M

Congrats! I see you came to the same conclusion as us, only we drove there and back.
We saved over $4k even after trip costs.
Contact Rockwood warranty dept. for someone close that will do work for you. They gave us three places nearby.

Thanks Dan.
We gained a lot of knowledge from your posts specifically, and I have to say that it made our process easier as a result. Your contributions are appreciated!

Congratulations, from another happy owner of a 2015 Rockwood 23IKSS Roo! We sure love ours!! You are not going to believe how much floor space and room your trailer has in it! I would love to see pictures of yours when you get it. We have the mid 2015 as well. I'm like you, we like the white color scheme much better than the tan. Good luck! Have a great time in your new Roo!

Are you saying that FR has fixed the bed platforms so that they are level & don't dip down onto the fold down door? Our 2011 233SS has the flat beds & when we looked at the newer models at the RV show I was surprised about the drop off.

Thanks everyone. We are very anxious to try it out but just missed being able to get it in time for our trip next week. So we won't be able to use it until we go camping again between Christmas and New Years. That will give some time to start the "mods"!
As for the bed "flatness"... I wouldn't say the beds were perfectly flat but they seemed much closer than some of the pics I've seen on other threads. I specifically discussed the issue with our dealer and he indicated that FR had made changes to address the issue.
I laid on the mattresses and didn't feel enough of a difference to notice but I may feel differently after being there for a few hours. Time will tell I guess...

Congrats from a fellow 23ikss owner. You will need to mod the awfully wired and sounding radio. Once done...awesome!

Are you all pulling your 23IKSS with 1/2 ton trucks? Do you all use a sway bar hitch?

Just for clarification, it's called a WDH (weight distributing hitch). Most vehicle owners manuals will state what trailer or tongue weight will require one.
Some WDHs have built in sway control while others need a add-on friction bar.
Generally speaking, unless you have a 3/4 ton, you should have a WDH to pull even a hybrid. Unless it's the smallest of hybrids and you have a 1/2 ton.

So if we have a 3/4 ton truck or higher we shouldn't need a WDH?

without knowing the truck's specs, i can't say for sure, but you should be ok.
but you should at least get an anti-sway friction bar.
