fresh water tank

Hi, I wanted to get a survey with you all in regards to the consumption of your 36 gallon fresh water tank. What is your average time of consumption from your water tank before you have to refill? What was the longest time you went before having to refill your tank? Thanks. Our second trip in this camper will be five days. We will not use the water tank for washing dishes. Using paper plates and etc. We will use the public bathrooms available at the site as much as possible. We will use our shower, but obviously conserve water to the point I wouldn't consider it a joyful shower. Ha ha.

I also want to note that we have a separate source for drinking water.

Remember, 6 gallons of the 35 is for the water heater.
Which only leaves you 29 gallons.

We have gone a week with three. But we did use the shower house. And our bathroom at night. We use the sink for dishes very little water for wash and rinse.

Just turn on the pump to fill and open a hot water faucet until hot water comes out right?

Hot or cold, does not matter which use the pressure relief valve on the tank.
open it till water comes out.

Do you close that pressure relief valve when you close up camp and get back on the road?

You just want it open till water flows out, this will insure the water heater tank is full after the tank is full close the valve before you fire up the water heater.

A lot of variables. ..showers are a big user. If you could use the showerhouse you may go for 5 days.

We have gone 5 days, and the problem is the other side of the coin. Showers will fill your holding tanks in short order. We wanted the tub because it is a major water saver. 3 of us can get clean using 3-4 gallons.
We also carry separate drinking water from home, cant stand city water.
I'll agree with filling your WH when you get your water, BUT unless you turn the WH off, and drain the water into a bucket, that water is of no use to you.

You have to make a few trips out on your own to get a good idea of how it works. Sometimes using an outdoor shower if you have one for little kids helps. I camp with the GF and her 13 yr old daughter, If I don't control the H2O they will both run the Hot Water Heater dry twice and my fresh is 37 and both grey and black are 30. I have now learned during shower time to leave the grey valve open, They will never go dry camping with my water conservation rules, especially when the daughters friend comes, she can fill the grey tank alone with her routine.

Technically you are correct, but you need water to replace the WH. If the fresh water tank is 35 gallons then that is all you have to work with.
The other question is how big is the gray tank? Unless you are using the outside shower, that will fill up as well. Jerry

I have never completely filled the gray tank and have been camping for many years. Some of the water goes in the black tank you know. I mostly camp in Wisconsin's beautiful state parks. You can not leave a gray valve open! Sounds like the girls need a lesson in water conservation. The three of us girls can go 5-7 days on a tank of water. We carry a 5 gallon jug and drinking and cooking water. Our shower is pretty much used for storage, not washing up.

My wife and I can go three days using everything in the camper but try to conserve. Showers can be a big water hog. I try to wet down, lather up an then hose off using less water. My wife not so much. Sometimes she prefers the bathhouse for the unlimited water. I am usually too lazy to go down there!
