We have a 2017 23IKSS, and our fresh tank is 43 gallons (30 each for gray/black) - should be the same for the 2018 from what I can tell. Now, this may sound like the dumbest question ever (a la "did you plug it in?"), but are you using the fresh water fill opening and not the "City water Connection"to try to fill your freshwater tank? Not that anyone would EVER make that mistake (not saying we did, not saying we didn't...)...

We have recently received our 2018 Rockwood 8299BS and have had the same issues you describe. After multiple calls to FR Warranty, they have admitted there is an issue with the software on some of the recent products. Due to this FR has issued a Service Bulletin that corrects this issue. Please see the attached Service Bulletin that was sent to me from FR. I am currently waiting on the flash programmer to correct this issue.

Hope this helps,

Darryl

I have to assume the bottom most nut and bolt is common to each of the others in that tank.

I would not worry about this. The sensors ( actually just screw heads) are connected to very high impedance differential OP amps in the sensor panel that detect microamps of current. Be careful using ohm meters ( especially inexpensive ones) because if connected wrong they can damage the OP amps.

Wow, so many posts:

Well, here is my zinc copper coated info.

1) Levelness of the tank and sensor placement is critical to tank readings (see photo). Note in photo the tank is full (water coming out of overflow) but tank sensor is (2/3 full). Tilt tank opposite direction and tank will fill completely, but then lower the nose of the camper to hook up and water will siphon out. Nature of the Beast.

2) Here is the way the tank indicators work, how much voltage is dropped for each sensor, the resistance of the sensor bridge, and most anything else you need. (see wiring diagram, troubleshooting guide, picture of what OEM probes look like, etc).

3) TP on sensor probes is hogwash.

Super answer and it all makes sense, my old VW pop top Westfalia uses op amps too so not much has changed, simple is better. My only comment is that the bottom most of the sensors is common to each of those above. Thanks for the measurements and tip to use a resistor in the test setup. I suspect most problems are in the switch or wire terminal. My old 2004 Chinook was flawless and had a similar circuit. Thanks ,,,,, Bill 2016 SunSeeker

Sorry, the common can be either way depending on the circuit engineering, shorted is lowest resistance and as the water drops the resistance increases, oh well as long as there is a change. I agree on tilting the motor home for a 100% fill for boon docking.

More details

Here is a thread that gets a bit more into how the unit works. I had to replace the chip in mine due to a surge.

I have had the same problems on my Coachman leprechaun. The dealership (for $265) had a guy steam clean the inside of both the gray and black water tanks. Also the mechanic checked the wires and connectors to the tanks. Worked for 5 minutes and then went back the the usual 2/3 full no matter if it was empty or not.
