FRF member DDurnell to the rescue

Wife and I purchased a 2013 Rockwood Roo from RV Wholesalers in Lakeview, Ohio this spring. We drove to Ohio from Texas and saved quite a bit or so we thought. Have had camper on maiden voyage and found several things that needed warranty work when we returned home. The awning was never opened during inspection as it was raining off and on. Where I parked it in my driveway at home it could not be opened. First time opened was in New Mexico Mountains at NFS CG. The short arm closest to hitch had not been put in track. Takes special headed screw driver to take two small screws out that keep it from coming out. I finally got it into the track but had to slightly bend the wings so would not slide properly. The water pump will not create pressure for faucets and several other small things like the two deep cycle batteries are not worth $5.00 much less $150.pp they charged. When Wife & I returned we contacted RV Wholesalers and could not get a return call. My salesman was Dallas Henry and was great until papers were signed now he does not know me! I was told during looking for camper how great their NATIONWIDE WARRANTY was, HA Ha. When I called the one they listed for my area the dealer actually laughed at me over the phone. He said sure I will fix your problems, you pay me and then you try to collect from Forest River.
He wanted to know why they didn't tell me to call Value RV Sales, as they sell Forest River campers although not the Roo's. I contacted them and they were nothing but great, and said they would try to help me. This is where I really get pi&&&& off at both RVW & Forest River. RVW said to send pictures and estimate of cost of repairs. Value RV asked how they should go about showing no pressure on water llines etc. They got no response from FR. I called and got an e-mail from Carol Brannon, RVW's warranty advocate who said I would need to get Value RV to send pictures and estimate to FR, When I ask how she wanted pictures of no pressure in water lines, she just laughed and said that is a good one! When Value RV, Ms. Brannon and FR warranty rep all got together I thought things were going better, NOT. Was at dealer today and still nothing has been done, Value RV said last communication they had from FR was that since Value RV was not a Rockwood Roo dealer they would have to apply for a "pin" number. VRV complied and has not heard back from FR even though they have called several times. I realize this is long and I am fighting City Hall but dad gum I am getting frustrated. I would now never recommend RV Wholesalers or Forest River to anyone. Other than this, my wife and I love our 233s. I just hate being basically lied to and ignored when I have a problem. Heck I even tried typing my problems over their chat line and It said back,"Hello Miles Windham, How may we help you", so and so is in the room and will be glad to help you, Then later it says I am sorry but so & so has left the room but so & so is now iln the room. Hello Miles Windham how may I help you and I type my problem all over only to later be told same thing, that So & So has left the room but this time it was my salesman Dallas Henry that it said was in the room, Hello Miles Windham, how may I help you, well at least I filnally had someone that I knew. Ten minuets later same thing, sorry but Mr. Henry has left the room, at this point I gave up and left the room which is what they were hoping all along. He-- of a way to run a railroad. I do feel better just venting as 1/3 of June and nearly 1/2 of July is gone and I am sitting at home and not enjoying my new camper.

Mr. W, sorry to hear about all of your problems. I picked up a Mini Lite 2109S from RVW about 3 weeks ago. Drove home 1200 miles almost trouble free. Everything worked really well for me except for the water pressure issue from the pump as you experienced. If you find the cause of this problem I would like to hear from you. It may help me with my pressure issue also.

I really enjoy my 2109S so I hope you are able to get things worked out. Good luck!

Although I feel for you and the issues you are having but buying local and spending a little bit more has it's rewards.
The little screws are a number 1 square drive.
Give fr a chance they'll make it right

Why are the battery's junk?
Is the hw tank full ?

Yes the HW tank was full, I used it when we were on KOA campground water pressure, Value RV mechanic said the filter did not appear to be primed but they have not gotten around to fixing it yet so I cannot answer.

As for the batteries it came with one and I know I paid &150.00 for second one. Value RV mechanic said looked like had dead cell but has not checked into it fully yet. I am getting two 6 volt Trojan golf cart batteries and have led lights (from China) ordered.

I feel like I am giving FR way more time than it takes to make a customer happy. Mike Anglemyer is FR warranty specialist that deals with Carol Brannon with RVW. You and I have just communicated twice in less than 20 min. Cant they communicate in three weeks. I am not happy with FR at all. Their turn to prove me wrong. Thanks for your response

Hi Miles, sorry for your troubles.
Many folks here ARE happy with their Rockwood or Forest River products.
Even quite a few who bought thru RV wholesalers.

Some things come to mind.
Keep your sense of humor. You can be firm and persistent but try not
to get angry. IF you keep the folks you are communicating with on your
side it really does help. Call back! If they say they will call you, and don't,
then you call them. If you get voice mail call again. Try to get multiple
contact people. If one is busy or "out of the office" you need other

I know it doesn't do you any good now but we can't stress enough
HOW IMPORTANT A THOROUGH walk thru inspection is.
When I bought my last 3 trailers they all had some water in the tank and
the water pump and all faucets were tested.
We turned on the AC and the furnace and the gas water heater.
The fridge was already on when we got there and it was cold.
You wouldn't buy a new truck without a test drive. Don't buy an RV
without a really thorough walk thru.
I would not buy an RV
without being shown how to open and close the awning.
Rain is no excuse not to open it both so you know how it's done and to
test it's operation.
You did say you tried to repair it but you bent it. I'm not sure how that's
RV wholesalers fault, or even Forest River's fault. Yes it was their fault
for apparently not properly installing it but what about you? You admit
you didn't have the proper tools but you forced it anyway?

If you're going to be an RV owner go to Harbor Freight or most any
tool store and get a "driver bit" assortment. Many screws on RVs are
combination square drive/phillips. Also as mentioned by Ron, you apparently
have at least a couple square drive. A bit assortment will have these and
more for not many $$

Good Luck with your new Roo and I hope you get back on the road soon
so you can put the fun back in your camping!

I forwarded this thread to a member who is also a RVWholesaler's Rep.

Perhaps he can investigate through back channels to find out what the problem is and help solve it. One can only hope...

Hello Mr. Windham- let me start by apologizing for the issues you have been having. Please forward a list to me at and I will get the issues taken care of for you. I assure Forest River wants you taken care of but they are a little backed up right now with everyone coming off July 4th camping trips. I will personally take care of making your issues right. We really appreciate your business, and again, I am very sorry for the issues you are having. I also want to apologize that you have not been taken care of in the proper time frame. Thank you again and I hope to get that email soon! Thank you to the Forest River Forums for allowing me to be on here to assist customers also.

I would like to give some advice to you about the water pressure. I just got my 21ss a took it for first time out. had the same problem with water pressure, there was very little. So here is what i found out. I took the faucet caps off and found styrofoam (yes styrofoam)in there. Cleaned them out and now have pressure. Must be from them running the water line though camper.
